MyBoxingCoach

As far as I'm concerned, this post from Logan Paul sums up a big problem in the World today.

There are lots of people who think that they know more about stuff than they actually do.

I find it hard to believe that anyone with a sound knowledge of boxing would compare the Jake Paul's approach to Anthony Joshua to anything Floyd Mayweather ever did.

I'm no Mayweather fanboy.

A mate of mine, a genuine boxing expert, once said to me "Mayweather sucks the joy out of boxing".

I get it, he's attracts compliments and criticism in equal measure.

But even my mate would not suggest for a moment that Mayweather simply 'ran' to achieve his success.

In every one of his fights, Mayweather applied pressure to his opponent in a pretty consistent way.

In my opinion, he was more a front foot fighter.

He didn't chase people down, but he didn't give up ground consistently.

Sure he would disengage, reposition and then go again, but that is not running.

Jake Paul simply legged it.

It reminded me of the gladiator scene in Life of Brian.

Paul never exerted any pressure on Joshua at any point in the whole fight.

He was ineffectual from start to finish.

But then again, he's a novice, why would we expect otherwise?

He is technically incapable of applying any other strategy than legging it.

Unfortunately for him, his approach didn't have the same outcome as the Life of Brian scene.

Hello folks. Not sure if you are into your podcasts (I definitely am), but this might be of interest. I was interviewed by Callum Jackson for his @CazCast podcast. I really enjoyed talking to Callum and we ended up covering a bunch of topics including my time as a boxer, my transition to becoming a coach and how I get the most out of myself with my online coaching. It's a 90 minute discussion, but with Callum's excellent interviewer skills it really did fly by.
