I have a wonderful update on Brutus to share with you all!
We received some truly amazing news from the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey.
Yesterday, April 21, 2026, Brutus—the young Bald Eagle who has captured the hearts of so many fans—was finally released back into the skies of Florida.

When Brutus was first rescued after being knocked from the nest by an owl, he was thin and suffering from a corneal abrasion.
However, thanks to the dedicated medical care at the clinic and extensive training in a large-scale flight facility, he has fully regained his strength to survive in the wild.

While he couldn't return to his original nest to ensure the safety of his sibling, he worked hard alongside other eaglets of his generation and successfully met all the requirements for release.
Connor O’Brien, who operates the nest camera, was honored to be present for the release. He shared that Brutus had a "picture-perfect" and powerful first flight. Reaching the milestone of exactly 100 days old and watching him soar into his new life on his own wings is the greatest gift we could have asked for.

Audubon Center for Birds of Preyより、本当に素晴らしいニュースが届きました。昨日、2026年4月21日、多くのファンに愛されてきたハクトウワシの「ブルータス」が、ついにフロリダの空へと放たれました。

フクロウに襲われ巣から落下した当初、ブルータスは体も痩せ、角膜に傷を負った状態でしたが、クリニックでの適切な治療と大型施設での訓練を経て、野生で生きていくための力を完全に取り戻しました。
兄弟の安全を考慮して元の巣に戻ることは叶いませんでしたが、同じ世代の仲間たちと切磋琢磨しながらリハビリに励み、野生復帰の条件を見事にクリアしたのです。

放鳥の瞬間には、巣のカメラを運営するコナー・オブライエン氏も立ち会い、ブルータスは絵に描いたような完璧で力強い初飛行を見せてくれました。
生後100日という大きな節目に、こうして自分の翼で新しい人生へと羽ばたいていったことは、私たちにとっても最高に嬉しい贈り物となりました。これからも大空のどこかで、ブルータスが力強く生きていけるよう心から願っています。

【Brutus Update from April 14】
Brutus has graduated from the clinic and is now in the "Magic of Flight" barn for flight school.

● Current Progress: He is doing great and can now fly up to the high perches on his own!

● What’s Next: He is practicing his landings and building up the stamina needed for long flights.

● The "White Bumpers": You might notice the white bandages on his wings. These are "carpal bumpers" to protect his feathers while he practices his clumsy landings.

He is taking steady steps toward returning to the wild.

ブルータスはクリニックを卒業し、「マジック・オブ・フライト」の飛行訓練施設で訓練を受けています。

● 現在の進捗状況：順調に成長しており、今では高い止まり木まで自力で飛べるようになりました！

● 今後の予定：着陸の練習と、長距離飛行に必要な体力づくりに取り組んでいます。

● 「白いバンパー」：翼に白い包帯が巻かれているのにお気づきでしょうか？
これは、着陸の練習中に羽毛を保護するための「手根バンパー」です。

野生に戻るための着実な一歩を踏み出しています。

[Update] Brutus's Injuries Were Minor
Fortunately, Brutus, the rescued bald eagle, has been found to have only suffered minor injuries.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff who worked tirelessly throughout the night to rescue him.

It is unlikely that humans will attempt to return Brutus to his nest directly, as climbing into the nest with him would pose too much of a risk to Peanut.
Therefore, the only way for him to be reunited with his family will be to be released into nature after rehabilitation and return to the nest on his own.

(As of the 15th, Brutus is 65 days old and Peanut is 60 days old.)

While we can no longer watch Brutus grow (through the camera), Peanut still has a long way to go before she leaves the nest.
We will continue to warmly watch over Peanut, hoping that she will grow up safely.

【続報】ブルータスは軽症でした
救助されたハクトウワシのブルータスは、幸いにも軽い怪我で済んでいることがわかりました。
夜通し救助にあたってくれたスタッフの皆さんに、心から感謝します。
現在は施設で、専門家の手助けを受けながら過ごしています。

今後、人間がブルータスを連れて巣へ戻すことは行われません。
人間が巣に登ること自体が、ピーナッツにとってあまりに大きなリスクになるためです。
そうなれば、リハビリ後、施設から自然の中へ放された後に自分の力で巣に戻ることが、家族と再会できる唯一の道となるでしょう。

(15日現在、ブルータスは生後65日、ピーナッツは生後60日です。)

ブルータスの成長を（カメラ越しに）見守ることはもうできませんが、ピーナッツが巣立つまでには、まだ時間がかかります。
これから先、ピーナッツが無事に育っていけるよう、引き続き温かく見守っていこうと思います。

Update: Fall and Rescue of Bald Eagle Eaglet "Brutus" in Winter Park

On March 14, 2026, at approximately 11:23 PM local time, a Owl attacked the bald eagle nest in Winter Park, Florida.
The impact caused one of the two eaglets, Brutus, to fall from the nest.

"Window to Wildlife," the organization operating the live cam, immediately noticed the incident and began a ground search the following morning.
Staff from the "Audubon Center for Birds of Prey," a specialized raptor conservation organization, also rushed to the scene to conduct a thorough search of the ground and surrounding trees.

As a result, Brutus was successfully located and rescued by the specialist team.
He has since been transported to a care facility, where he is undergoing a comprehensive examination by veterinarians to check for any injuries or trauma from the fall.

The other eaglet, Peanut, is safe and remains in the nest with parents Wink and Atlas.
Pending the results of Brutus's health assessment, plans are expected to be made to assist in returning him to the original nest.

A video of the owl attack involving Brutus will be posted at a later date.

We wanted to share this urgent update with you. We will continue to share more information as it becomes available.

ウィンターパークのハクトウワシの雛「ブルータス」の落下と救助の経緯

現地時間の2026年3月14日午後11時23分頃、フロリダ州ウィンターパークにあるハクトウワシの巣をフクロウが襲撃しました。
その衝撃により、2羽いる雛のうちの1羽、ブルータスが巣の外へと落下する事態となりました。

ライブカメラを運営する「Window to Wildlife」はすぐに異変を察知し、翌朝から現地の捜索を開始。
猛禽類の保護専門機関「Audubon Center for Birds of Prey」のスタッフも現場に急行し、地上や周辺の木々を詳しく調査しました。
その結果、ブルータスは無事に発見され、専門チームによって保護されました。
現在は保護施設へと運ばれ、落下の衝撃による怪我や外傷がないか、専門医による精密検査を受けています。

もう1羽の雛であるピーナッツは無事で、現在も親鳥のウィンクとアトラスと共に巣の中で過ごしています。
今後、保護されたブルータスの健康状態に問題がないことが確認され次第、専門家による手助けのもと、再び元の巣へ戻すための計画が進められる予定です。

Regarding F23, who had been missing for several days, there has been a very heartbreaking update from the official source.
While this is a sobering reminder of the harshness of nature, I would like to take a moment with all of you to quietly honor the journey she so bravely lived.

“With heavy hearts, we are sharing an update regarding F23.
After receiving several credible reports of a deceased eagle found less than two miles from the nest, we are presuming that F23 has passed.
While we await any possible confirmation, the proximity and timing make this the most likely conclusion.
This is a deeply sad day for our community. We were blessed to observe F23 for just two and a half seasons, but in that short time, her eagerness to learn, her devotion to M, and her care for her eaglets were unmistakable.
She grew before our eyes, and so many of us felt connected to her journey.
Loss in the wild is never easy to witness. It is a sobering reminder that nature, while beautiful, can also be unforgiving.
Still, the time we were given to watch F23 soar, nurture, and thrive is something no one can take away.
Today, we grieve together — Fly High and Forever Free, F23. 💔”

Status Update: Missing Female F23 and the Growth of E26 (As of March 2, 2026)

Here is the latest update regarding the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam nest.
Mother F23 was last seen on camera on the morning of Friday, February 27, 2026, and as of today, March 2, she has not yet returned to the nest.
This matter has been reported to local wildlife organizations (such as CROW), and monitoring and search efforts in the surrounding area are currently ongoing.

In her absence, the father M15 is tending to the nest alone.
He is managing all responsibilities, from providing food to defending the territory, to ensure the safety and growth of the eaglet.
Despite these challenging circumstances, the eaglet E26 is successfully reaching key developmental milestones.

On Thursday, February 26, at 9:13 AM, E26 successfully hopped from the nest to the "veranda" for the first time.
With fledging only a few weeks away, E26 is now frequently practicing wing-flapping and learning to self-feed.
While we remain concerned about F23’s whereabouts, E26 continues to move toward independence thanks to M15’s dedicated care.

【状況報告】母鳥F23の行方不明と、雛E26の成長について（2026年3月2日現在）

フロリダのハクトウワシの巣（Southwest Florida Eagle Cam）における、現在の最新状況をお伝えします。
母鳥のF23は2026年2月27日（金）の朝を最後にカメラの前から姿を消しており、本日3月2日に至るまで、依然として姿は確認されておりません。
この事態については、すでに地元の野生動物保護機関（CROWなど）へ報告されており、現在も周囲の警戒と捜索が続けられています。

母鳥が不在の間、父鳥のM15はたった一羽で巣を守っています。
彼は食事の調達から雛の防衛まで、すべての役割を一人でこなしながら、懸命に子育てを続けている状況です。
こうした厳しい環境下ではありますが、雛のE26は順調に自立へのステップを進めています。

2月26日（木）の午前9時13分には、初めて巣から「ベランダ」と呼ばれる隣の枝へ飛び移ることに成功しました。
巣立ちまで残り数週間となり、現在のE26は羽を大きく広げる練習や、父鳥が運んだ食事を自分で食べる練習を繰り返しています。
依然として母鳥の安否が懸念される状況ではありますが、父鳥の献身的な支えにより、雛は一歩ずつ独り立ちの時期へと近づいています。
彼らの歩みをこれからも静かに見守っていきましょう。

【Breaking News】The Winter Park Eaglets Have Been Named!

As announced by "Window To Wildlife" in the Winter Park live chat, the landowners have officially selected the names from over 1,200 community submissions.

The official names are Brutus for WPE1 and Peanut for WPE2.

It is wonderful to see these two finally have names that perfectly reflect their unique spirits—Brutus with his dominant presence, and Peanut with his incredible resilience.

【Official】Name Submissions for Winter Park Eaglets (WPE1 & WPE2)
The Window To Wildlife team, in coordination with the local landowners, is currently inviting the public to submit name suggestions for the two bald eagle eaglets at the Winter Park nest. The final pair of names will be selected by the landowners from the list of community submissions.

These eaglets are being raised by their father, "Atlas," and their resilient mother, "Wink," who continues to thrive and hunt despite having sight in only one eye.
The community has been deeply moved by the growth of WPE1, hatched on January 9th, and the incredible survival of WPE2, who hatched five days later and has overcome significant sibling rivalry with remarkable perseverance.

The submission guidelines require that the names be gender-neutral and proposed together as a pair.
The deadline for all entries is February 17th.
