A dreamy wisteria staircase & tunnel, giant purple alliums, ancient yew hedges, secret pathways, topiary, and real-life cottagecore fairytale vibes 🤍

I still can’t believe these historic gardens have been so close to our cottage for all these years, and yet this was my first proper visit. It completely awed me.

Our Dream Cottage Life

I’ve lived near Elton Hall for years — our cottage is just nearby — and more recently I’ve been working as a barista and server in the garden centre in the grounds. But somehow, until yesterday, I’d never actually visited the gardens themselves… and I was completely in awe.

The moment I stepped inside, it felt like I’d wandered into a fairytale — part secret English garden, part Alice in Wonderland dream. I was genuinely stunned by the beauty of it all.

The alliums were absolutely breathtaking, the topiary was astounding, and seeing wisteria cascading down a staircase felt almost unreal. I loved how beautifully kept the gardens were, while still allowing nature to gently take over in places too — moss-covered statues, hidden corners, and wild pockets that made everything feel timeless and romantic.

Honestly, this may just be the best English garden you didn’t know about. 🌿 Sharing my walk around one of the most stunning gardens I’ve ever seen this Sunday from 9am (uk time ) here on my channel !

Entry to the gardens was £12.50 for me online as it was also the wilderness gardens. Usually it’s £10 for just the gardens. It is also much less if you are a Historic house or RHS gardens member!

Also here are the days these amazing gardens and house (which I’m still yet to explore) is open !

2-5pm

* June: Wednesdays & Thursdays
* July: Wednesdays & Thursdays
* August: Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays

If you didn’t already know, when I’m not at the cottage or off on little adventures, I work as a barista and server in a café.

This week brought such a lovely surprise — we had Davina McCall stop by! She kindly took the time to have a photo with us, and she was just as warm and lovely in person as you’d hope.

I’m a big fan of her podcast — it’s genuinely inspiring and so worth a listen. If you’re not already subscribed, I highly recommend checking it out!
