I used to feel constantly on edge

Overthinking every camera setting.
Anxious when let in on shoots.
Worried one technical mistake would expose me as an amateur.

I was scared of getting something wrong.
Scared of charging properly.
Scared of making work that really showed who I was.

So I stayed busy instead.

Safe videos.
At the mercy of referrals.
Work that paid in "exposure"…

And I felt alone, burnt out and totally unclear on the path forward.

The turning point came when I realised filmmaking isn’t about making videos.
It’s about creating films, f*ck videos!

It's about being a filmmaker, not a videographer.

Creating emotion, trust and confidence... through your skillset and art.

I finally started treating films as evergreen assets instead of creating a million "social media verticals".

The production quality increased.
Quoting prices became calm.
And the opportunities stopped feeling random.

Now I get paid making films that naturally come to me, with people who I can't wait to go and work with.

And now I also help others do the same at www.skool.com/cine

I felt physically sick just showing my work.

I was overwhelmed by camera gear and editing software, and actively avoided money talks and asking for opportunities.

But, I beat my creative block, and learnt cinematic production skills.

This allowed me to earn £11,000 in a single month as a filmmaker, and consistently build my life for 7 years now.

I've worked with the BBC Natural History Unit, traveled the world, and contributed to broadcasted TV shows, plus projects for brands like Nike and conservation organizations.

I find it hard to say this out loud because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging.

Honestly, these things physically hurt, as does talking about them haha, and I was overwhelmed with doubt the whole time.

Now I find myself in an incredibly privileged position, really wanting to share what I've learnt over the last 10 years.

I hold a lot of resentment towards my formal and online education.
I want to make real-life filmmaking education genuinely accessible.
But it's hard knowing where to begin, and so I feel like I need to ask;

What do you think you would most want to learn?

Here's my favourite thing I learnt.
