Quick thought to share.

You are not "family" to your company/workplace. If you have an opportunity that pays more or fits your schedule better, take it. They will fire you in a heartbeat and replace you the next day.

You should always be looking for a job, even if you have one. There's always something better on the horizon.

You should be a mercenary in the workforce, always looking for the next contract

The boomer idea of working at one place for 20 years is mostly dead nowadays, back in those days, that made more sense because a lot more jobs offered pensions, which is just not the case anymore.
