Dirty Hippie has been having some serious health issues. He landed in the hospital yesterday and will be there all weekend. Please send good vibes, prayers, or just thoughts to him and his family.
If you don't see him on here or on the show for a bit, that's what's going on. The VA and his doctors are trying to help him but are having trouble figuring it out... they know it's service connected and believe it's from the burn pits and other toxins he inhaled for long periods of time while in Iraq but they can't stop or slow down what's ravaging his insides.
So please send good vibes his way and we'll hold down the fort until he feels up to joining again. Thanks everyone!

2004: Me and Dirty Hippie at Ft Bragg with 307th Tactical PsyOp Company before leaving for our Iraq deployment... two of the guys in the pic (Chris/"Top" - far left; Juice - tall, back) passed away after deployment; Chris from cancer and Juice from ALS. Juice's ALS was service connected and multiple people from that deployment have gotten cancer or something destroying their insides.
War is more than gunfights and explosions. It's going through extreme hardships and excruciating boredom with your best friends. It's laughing together and breaking balls at the fire pit at night after a mission. It's that feeling of getting on the freedom bird for your final ride back home.
Me, Hippie and Wally are trying to honor that experience with Veterans Beverage Co. Hopefully we do it justice.

One nice thing with living in DC was how it was a hub for people I had previously served with... some lived in the area, many got stationed or worked there. This is a meet up I had with my old Platoon Commander from my days with 2nd Bn/4th Marines comm plt. We hadn't seen each other in probably 10+ yrs and it was great to catch up (and he's a fellow McWOP!)
What me, Dirty Hippie and Wally are trying to build with the beverage company is this kind of vibe and the importance of staying connected, in real life, to each other. Sometimes helping each other takes nothing more than sharing a beverage and shooting the shit while you catch up and talk memories.

Dirty Hippie is testifying today in front of the Colorado state general assembly on the benefits of using psychedelics to help treat PTSD... it legit gave him his life back and with his background and experience, he's a great choice to present to lawmakers!
