🔙 1968 – The Rivalry Begins 🚀
Ford’s Mustang 🐴 was already a muscle car superstar 🌟, and Dodge wanted to take it down 💥. Enter the Dodge Charger R/T—bigger, meaner, and packing a 426 HEMI V8 🔥.
🎬 Bullitt (1968) – The Most Epic Car Chase 🎥🏎️💨
Hollywood brought these two legends together in Bullitt, featuring Steve McQueen’s Mustang GT 390 🏁 vs. a ’68 Dodge Charger R/T 🔥. But here’s a secret 🤫:
🚦 The Charger was too powerful! It had so much torque 💪 that the stunt drivers had to hold back so the Mustang could keep up 😆.
💥 The Chase Was Real! The Charger’s hubcap flew off during filming because of the raw power ⚡, and one scene where it jumps was completely unplanned!
⚡ The Forgotten Drag Race (1970)
In 1970, Ford was testing a Boss 429 Mustang 🐎⚡ against a Dodge Charger R/T 🚀 on the drag strip. Both had massive V8s, but there was a catch:
💨 The Mustang had more horsepower but was lighter 🏋️‍♂️, while the Charger had brute force but was heavier.
🏁 The Result? The Mustang won in short sprints 🏆 but on longer runs, the Charger’s top-end power took over 💥🔥.
