Jordan Holt. I'm an illustrator who draws comics, and talks about art theory and history, illustration and drawing methods until others edge quietly from the room.
Is it possible for an artist/illustrator to devote too much work to "Fan Art" than is good for the person?
(I've often gotten a response of "people can draw whatever they want" but that's not really connected to the question. The very sincere and simple question is whether you believe there is such a threshold as "too much" where the negative effects begin to outweigh the positive.)
I'm shaking up the strategy after spending a few weeks thinking on it. Based on the votes of the last poll, I will be trying to host conversations with artists on the nitty gritty of their methods and influences. I'm also changing up my schedule in order to put out more videos.
I'll be trying to alternate weekly long videos and short videos. I currently have a longform video in editing, and I'll be uploading a short "Illustrator Spotlight" analysis video here very soon.
We'll see how that works, but for right now, short/long/short/long is the pattern, with artist conversations sprinkled throughout.

And very sincerely, thank you for watching.

Trying to decide how to branch out next. Which would you rather see, and/or think would be better for my channel quality?
