⚠️ WHY MANY STUDENTS WRITE WEAK RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

Let’s be honest…

Many students think research objectives are just statements you quickly add to Chapter One.

But in reality…

Research objectives give direction to the entire study.

And when they are weak, everything else becomes confusing.

Here are some common mistakes students make:

📌 Writing objectives that are too broad

📌 Using vague words that lack clarity

📌 Writing objectives that do not match the research problem

📌 Copying objectives from old projects without understanding them

📌 Including too many objectives that become difficult to manage

The truth is:

Good research objectives should clearly show what the study wants to achieve.

Simple. Specific. Focused.

One thing I’ve noticed is this:

Students usually struggle with methodology and discussion later because the objectives were unclear from the beginning.

That’s why before writing your objectives, ask yourself:

👉 What exactly is this study trying to achieve?
👉 Are the objectives connected to the problem?
👉 Can these objectives realistically be addressed in this study?

Once those answers become clear, the writing becomes easier.

Now tell me 👇

What mistake do students commonly make when writing research objectives?

⚠️ THE BIGGEST MISTAKE STUDENTS MAKE BEFORE STARTING THEIR PROJECT WORK

Let’s be honest…

Many students rush straight into writing chapters without first understanding the research problem clearly.

And that’s where confusion begins.

Because when the problem is unclear: 👉 the objectives become weak
👉 the research questions become disconnected
👉 the entire project starts losing direction

This is something I’ve noticed often with students.

Some choose topics because: 📌 “my friend is doing something similar”
📌 “it sounds academic”
📌 “I just want to finish quickly”

But research does not work that way.

Before writing anything, ask yourself:

👉 What exactly is the issue I want to study?
👉 Why is this issue important?
👉 Who is affected by the problem?
👉 What does the study hope to achieve?

These questions help you build a stronger foundation for your project.

One important thing students should know is this:

Good research work usually starts with a clearly understood problem — not just a “nice” topic.

Don’t rush the foundation.

That’s what affects everything else later.

Now tell me 👇

Do you think students spend enough time understanding their research problem before writing?

⚠️ WHY MANY STUDENTS STRUGGLE WITH CHAPTER ONE

Let’s be honest…

Chapter One looks simple until you actually start writing it.

That’s where many students begin to feel confused.

Because suddenly, you are expected to explain: 👉 the problem
👉 the purpose of the study
👉 the objectives
👉 the research questions
👉 and why the study matters

All in one chapter.

So what happens?

📌 Some students write without clear direction.

📌 Some copy from old projects without understanding them.

📌 Others repeat the same points throughout the chapter.

📌 And many students struggle to connect their problem statement to their objectives and questions.

Here’s the truth:

A weak Chapter One usually comes from poor understanding of the research problem.

If the problem is unclear in your mind, the writing will also become unclear.

That’s why before writing Chapter One, students should first ask:

👉 What exactly is the issue this study wants to address?
👉 Why is this issue important?
👉 What does the study want to achieve?

Once those become clear…

Writing Chapter One becomes much easier.

Research writing is not just about filling pages.

It’s about clarity and direction.

Now tell me 👇

Which part of Chapter One do students struggle with most?

📚 NEED HELP WITH YOUR THESIS OR PROJECT WORK?

Let’s be honest…

Many students are not lazy.

Sometimes they are simply: 👉 confused about where to start
👉 struggling with topic selection
👉 stuck on chapter writing
👉 finding it difficult to structure their work properly
👉 overwhelmed by corrections from supervisors

And because of that, thesis and project work become stressful.

That’s why I help students with guidance on:

📌 Research topic selection
📌 Research objectives & questions
📌 Chapter structuring
📌 Proposal writing
📌 Thesis/project organization
📌 Research writing guidance and support

The goal is not just to “finish the work”…

But to help students better understand the research process and reduce unnecessary stress.

If you’re currently struggling with your thesis or project work, feel free to message me.

Sometimes, small guidance can save you a lot of confusion.

⚠️ MISTAKES STUDENTS MAKE WHEN WRITING RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

Let’s be honest…

Many students don’t realize that weak research objectives can affect the entire project.

Because once the objectives are unclear…

Everything else becomes difficult: 👉 research questions
👉 methodology
👉 data collection
👉 even the final discussion

Here are some common mistakes students make:

📌 Writing objectives that are too broad
Trying to cover too many things in one study creates confusion.

📌 Using unclear or vague words
Objectives should be specific and direct — not confusing.

📌 Writing objectives that don’t match the topic
Some students write objectives that drift away from the actual research problem.

📌 Making too many objectives
More objectives do not make research stronger. They can make the study difficult to manage.

📌 Copying objectives from other projects
What works for another topic may not fit your own study.

📌 Writing objectives without understanding the problem
If you don’t clearly understand the issue being studied, your objectives will also be weak.

One important thing students should know is this:

Good research objectives give direction to the entire study.

That’s why supervisors pay close attention to them.

So before writing your objectives, ask yourself:

👉 What exactly is this study trying to achieve?

Once that becomes clear, writing becomes easier.

Now tell me 👇

What do students struggle with most when writing research objectives?

Be honest with yourself for a moment.

Are you actually writing your project
or are you just typing words and hoping it works?

Many students are busy:
• Downloading past projects
• Rearranging sentences
• Changing words with Grammarly

But they are not progressing.

Here is a simple test:

👉 Can you explain your research problem clearly without reading your document?

If the answer is no, then writing more will not help.

This is why some students write 40 pages and still get: “Revise.”

Progress in final year project does not come from writing faster.

It comes from writing with clarity.
And clarity does not come accidentally.

Don’t explain. Just answer honestly.

👉 Can you explain your project problem clearly right now?

Comment YES or NO.
