Apollo 16 Full Mission Day 8 - Moonwalk 3 and LM Liftoff/Docking Update:

I have completed up to Station 11, the "House Rock" at the edge of North Ray crater. All the graphics, captions, photos, film, maps and TV coverage is complete.

Ahead is the laying in of the Station 11 photos and the cuff checklists John & Charlie used to keep in the timeline.

The LM Liftoff sequence is also completed, except I have to add the DAC film out the LMPs window.

So, a fair bit to do but progress has been made.

Map is a smaller from Brian McInalls fantastic work of the Station 11 activities.

Sad to hear of the passing of astronaut John Fabian 1939-2026. John was a Class of 78 Mission Specialist who flew to space on STS-7 and STS-51G. He left NASA in 1986. As an enthusiastic young space fan you can imagine the excitement when a brown NASA envelope arrived with the attached photos inside.

www.skylab.space Dwight Steven-Boniecki has released his Skylab 3 TV coverage 8-DVD set. I have mine and have been happily browsing the TV broadcasts including roll-out of the Saturn 1B, extended launch day coverage alongside onboard broadcasts, including Jacks wonderful tour of Skylab, AMU testing, Spiders, EVAs, including the deployment of the new sunshade, earth resource TV, re-entry and splashdown. There are over 80 TV broadcasts! This is a comprehensive piece of work by Dwight. It has taken him years of research and endeavour to pull all this footage together. 45 years ago today - I was sitting by the TV watching and learning everything I could aged 14 years - this was my second "live" launch I could remember - And thus began a lifetime of interest in all things space - and just look where that got me!
