𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭
A load chart is a table or graph that shows how much weight a machine can safely lift or carry under different conditions. It’s most commonly used for lifting machines like cranes, forklifts, and hoists.
𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚
A load chart tells the maximum safe load based on factors like:
𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐬) 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞
𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭
𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡
𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
If the operator lifts more than the chart allows, the machine can tip over or fail, so it’s an important safety tool.
Example (Crane)
For a crane:
If the boom is short and close, it can lift more weight.
If the boom is long and far away, it can lift less weight

Safety policy
A safety (or health & safety) policy typically has three major parts:
1. Statement of Intent (Policy Statement)
This section includes:
Management’s commitment to health and safety
Overall goals and objectives
Commitment to continuous improvement
Signature of the top management
Date of issue
📌 This is the “What we want to achieve” part.
2. Organization (Roles & Responsibilities)
This part explains:
Who is responsible for safety at each level
Roles of employer, managers, supervisors, and workers
Competency, training, and communication responsibilities
Arrangements for safety committees, HSE officer, etc.
📌 This is the “Who will do what” part.
3. Arrangements (Systems & Procedures)
This section includes the detailed procedures for:
Risk assessment
Permit to work
Emergency response
Toolbox talks
PPE management
Accident reporting
Fire safety
Contractor management
📌 This is the “How we will do it” part.
🎯 One-Line Summary
Safety Policy = Intent + Organization + Arrangements

1. Prepare for Shutdown
Identify the machine and all energy sources.
Inform all affected workers.
2. Shut Down the Equipment
Turn off the machine using normal stop procedures.
3. Isolate All Energy Sources
Switch OFF electrical power.
Close valves, disconnect lines, block moving parts.
Isolate mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, and chemical energy.
4. Lock Out
Apply your personal lock to every isolation point.
Keep the key with you.
