Robbins, IL — one of the oldest Black suburbs in Illinois, but also one of the most dangerous.
In this full documentary, we link up with a group of young men from the YN side of Robbins who open up about a lifetime of trauma, violence, loss, and survival in a forgotten suburb just outside Chicago.
They’ve lost multiple close friends over the last few months — including Shadeeki Colone and DreVante “Dremoe”, both tragically killed in separate incidents reported in local news.
Two more of their close ones are currently locked up on serious charges, including Shamod Colone, who was arrested after being on the run, according to media reports.
But their story goes even deeper than the headlines.
They talk about growing up with their mother in and out of jail, the pain of eventually losing her, and the legacy she left behind. To them, she was a fighter — a real gangster — who did everything she could to protect her kids while battling the streets herself.
These young men break down surviving multiple shootings, losing family and friends, dealing with poverty, pressure, and street politics, and what it feels like trying to stay alive in a suburb that sees more violence than some major cities.
This is Robbins, Illinois — raw, unfiltered, and rarely seen.
