We travel with our kids on purpose. Here’s the science behind why it matters. 👇
New experiences don’t just feel good — they stick. Research shows that novel experiences are encoded more deeply in the brain than everyday routines, making those memories stronger and longer-lasting. A life full of new places doesn’t just feel richer. It actually is.
Exposure to the world builds better humans. Research shows that direct contact with different cultures, people, and places is one of the most powerful ways to develop empathy and reduce bias in children. We don’t just want our kids to see the world — we want the world to change how they see.
Struggle together, grow together. Research shows that shared experiences that push families outside their comfort zone build resilience, adaptability, and gratitude — in kids and parents.
If you’ve been on the fence about traveling with young kids, let this be your sign. It’s not just fun. It’s one of the best things you can do for your family. 🌍

Every year we try to go to at least one of each of these places:
- A New Place in California - so they can appreciate how big and diverse the state they live in is.
- A New State - so they understand what makes America, America
- A New National Park - so they can be amazed by nature, and know that it takes people working together to protect these places
- A New Country - so they appreciate and respect different cultures and places
- A Spanish-Speaking Country - our kids are learning Spanish, we want to give them more opportunities to use it.

Yes, there are tons more pumpkin patches out there of all sizes, and probably one in your city. But these are our favorite ones - they’re actual functioning farms and have the widest variety of activities - not just during fall, but throughout the year. But they’re especially great during the fall. Is there are farm experience / pumpkin patch that you like? Share with others in the comments.
