Black Velvet Orbit is a full analog album performed and composed live in my home studio with synthesizers, Moog, guitars, Rhodes, and tape machines.

The journey starts with a guitar rising out of the distance, then moves into pulsing Berlin School sequences, warm analog textures, reflective Rhodes moments, tape atmosphere, and a final beat-driven track that leaves everything glowing and in motion.

Somewhere between Pink Floyd atmosphere, Tangerine Dream motion, analog synth music, and late-night instrumental journeys.

No backing tracks. No stage. No big production. Just the room, the instruments, the machines, and the album taking shape in real time.

Hi everyone,

A new Caught In Joy album is coming out this Friday. I’ll share more about the music soon, but before the release I wanted to tell you about something I’ve been quietly rebuilding: the Caught In Joy website.

I wanted it to feel more like a real home for the music — a place where your albums, videos, reviews, and the whole Caught In Joy universe can live together.

A few big upgrades are now live:
- You can download your owned albums directly from the website in FLAC, MP3, and WAV.
- If you bought albums on Bandcamp using the same email address, they may already be waiting for you on the Caught In Joy website. If not, you can sync them manually from your profile.
- The music player is smoother now and keeps playing while you browse.
- There are also profiles, reviews, Bandcamp/social reviews, a full release timeline, and a new video journeys catalog that suggests videos by mood
- I also made many speed, UI, and security improvements behind the scenes.

It’s still evolving, but it already feels much closer to what I always wanted: a living archive for this music.

So this Friday, there will be a new album, video — and now a much better place to listen, explore, download, and return to the music you already own.

Big news today.

MARS is now available on all major streaming platforms.

After weeks of packing, lifting, reconnecting hundreds of cables, and rebuilding everything from the ground up, the new Caught In Joy studio is finally alive.

Interestingly... it looks surprisingly similar to the old one. 😊

That wasn't really the plan, but I realized something during the move: it was never about making it look different. It was about making it work better.

This room has much more natural light, feels noticeably cozier, and everything I use every day is now within arm's reach. One thing I'm especially excited about is having instant access to both of my TEAC 80-8 tape machines, making it effortless to record every performance straight to analog tape the moment inspiration strikes.

The goal has always been simple: remove every possible barrier between an idea and hitting Record.

The very first improvisation from this new space is now live on YouTube.

Ghosts Of The Control Room is exactly that—the first notes recorded here after the move. Everything you hear was performed live in a single take and recorded directly to analog tape.

Yay! We’re about 80% moved! We started on Tuesday and things are moving quickly.

At this point, there are just a few synths and consoles left, plus about 10,000 smaller things. It’s amazing how much stuff a studio and a house can accumulate over the years. :)
