Welcome to the website where we present films and recordings made by filmmakers from the Polish State Forests.
Poland takes the leading position in Europe as far as the forest area is concerned. The forests overgrow 9.1 million hectares which is 29.4% of the territory of Poland. The vast majority of this area are forests owned by the state, out of which almost 7.6 million hectares are under the State Forests Holding management. The Forest Film Studio is part of it.
We want to share with you the effects of our work, i.e. unusual film meetings with nature, and in particular with the forest. In the photos you will see many animals filmed in their natural habitat, you will see the wildest corners of Poland, captivating landscapes. We hope that the films posted here, made in Forest Film Studio, will inspire you to your own natural explorations.

A sparrowhawk with a pigeon caught on the road. A pigeon is not easy prey; sparrowhawks usually hunt small passerine birds. We often observe them near bird feeders, chasing tits. This female, larger than the male, chose a pigeon as her victim. Although attacks on larger prey do occur, such a decision is risky—if injured during the struggle, the sparrowhawk may be unable to hunt further and is thus doomed to starvation. For this reason, predators calculate every attack to avoid potential problems. As can be seen, this time it was successful, and the hunter dragged its prey onto a meadow bordering the road.

"Life of the Forest. Bryophytes" directed by Michał Ogrodowczyk won 2nd place in the documentary film category at the 2025 Zagreb Tourfilm Festival in Croatia!

"Amphibians: Pioneers of Life on Land", directed by Sławomir Skupiński win the award for the best pictures at the 20th International Wlodzimierz Puchalski Nature Film Festival in Poland.
The anniversary gala of the festival was extremely successful for Forest Film Studio. We have been honored for exceptional commitment to promoting nature conservation through cinematic expression. This year, 12 of our films participated in the festival, all of which qualified for the main competition.
We are delighted that our film has been recognized.

Hello,
On April 10th, a screening of the new film "Tales of the Bear" took place. This is the third city in Poland where the screening took place. We are working on the English version, which will be available on this channel this year. The narrator of the film is a forester working in the State Forests, who talks about the life of bears in the Bieszczady Mountains (Eastern Carpathians). The film is directed by Elżbieta Trzonek.

It's autumn outside our windows, but let's go back for a moment to spring and amphibian migrations. Mistakes often occur between species then.
The photos show a common toad (Bufo bufo) and a frog from the green group (Rana esculenta complex).
In this case, nothing will come of it, because these two are too distantly related. After some time, they will realize that they made a mistake. But crossbreeds between species of our native amphibians do happen...
