Happy and Blessed Sunday TySquad!
One of the greatest blessings of maturity is discovering that God is not confined to a building, a denomination, or a particular religious experience. God is everywhere.
God is present in the quiet moments, the difficult seasons, the healing journey, the coffee shop, the park bench, the hospital room, and the place where you finally found yourself again. If your path has led you away from traditional or organized religious spaces, don't spend your energy grieving what no longer fits. Instead, celebrate the fact that you found God anew at this stage of your life.
The same God who met you then is meeting you now. His presence has never been limited by walls, titles, or traditions. Wherever you are today, God is there.
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?" -Psalm 139:7

Happy Saturday! âď¸
You only get one lifeâthis one. Don't spend it waiting for the perfect mood, the perfect moment, or the perfect set of circumstances. Sometimes living begins with simply getting up, getting dressed, and stepping outside. Take a walk. Visit a park. Catch a movie. Sit in a coffee shop. Explore a new neighborhood. Call a friend. Do something that reminds you that you're alive.
Life is not just about existing; it's about experiencing. The days move quickly, and every day is a gift that cannot be repeated. Even if you don't feel like it, choose to engage with life today. Make a memory. See something beautiful. Laugh a little harder. Live a little fuller. God gave you this dayâdon't just survive it, enjoy it. Live, Live, Live!
"This is the day that the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." -Psalm 118:24

TySquad...It is with great sadness that I share the passing of legendary 2X Grammy Award Winning R&B vocalist Peabo Bryson. From classics such as "If Ever You're in My Arms Again" to the Oscar-winning Disney favorites "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," his music became the soundtrack to countless lives. His contribution to the music industry is immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Some of his most beloved collaborations included work with Roberta Flack, Celine Dion, Regina Belle, and Natalie Cole.

TySquad, as we welcome the month of June, I celebrate it as a season of awareness, reflection, creativity, and new beginnings. June holds special meaning for me because it shines a light on two passions that have long been at the heart of my work and my platform: Black Music Month and Pride Month. As many of you know, I am a devoted musicologist who has spent years honoring the legacy of R&B legends, divas, and unsung Black artists whose contributions continue to shape our culture.
At the same time, I remain committed to preserving, documenting, and uplifting Black LGBTQ+ history, ensuring that the stories of our community are never forgotten and that future generations understand the sacrifices that paved the way for greater freedom and visibility.
This month, I want to give special recognition to three extraordinary trailblazers. In the world of music, there is the incomparable Aretha Franklin, whose voice, artistry, and influence remain unmatched. In the struggle for LGBTQ+ liberation, I honor Archbishop Carl Bean, whose ministry and advocacy provided hope and affirmation for countless people, and Marsha P. Johnson, whose courage and activism helped change history.
May this June inspire us to celebrate our culture, protect our history, embrace our authenticity, and continue the work of liberation for all people. -Tyesse

Tonight, my heart is sooo heavy. I got the call from his partner with the devastating news that my dear friend, SHEEN, (2 Chef's + A Pan) has passed away. We just celebrated our birthdays together in February & March...There are some losses that leave you searching for words, and this is one of them. Sheen was more than a friend, he was someone whose presence, laughter, kindness, and friendship meant so much to me. I am truly heartbroken and still trying to process this loss. I ask that you keep his partner, family, loved ones, and all of us who cared for him in your prayers and positive thoughts during this difficult time. Rest peacefully, my friend. You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten. â¤ď¸

Thursday Afternoon Reminder!
Happy Thursday TySquad...
Some people will spend years building a cover-up instead of building the courage to simply live in their truth. And the sad part is⌠the cover-up usually costs more than the honesty ever would. More lies. More performances. More exhaustion. More people dragged into a storyline that everybody already sees unraveling.
At some point, you have to ask yourself: how much energy does it take to protect an illusion that keeps cracking in public?
Because the truth has a way of introducing itself eventually. Quietly⌠then suddenly. And when revelation becomes inevitable, digging the hole deeper only turns the unveiling into a bigger spectacle. What could have been handled with honesty becomes theater, scandal, whispers, screenshots, side-eyes, and public embarrassment. Whew.
And let me say this carefully: nobody should be forced to confess, perform, or explain themselves for the comfort of other people. But there is a difference between privacy and panic. There is a difference between protecting your peace and exhausting yourself trying to outrun what is already obvious.
At the end of the day, you can only be who you are.
The truth may feel heavy for a moment⌠but pretending is a lifetime sentence. Some people are not tired from persecution â they are tired from maintenance. Maintenance of an image. Maintenance of a character. Maintenance of a story that no longer fits.
Eventually, the mask becomes heavier than the freedom.
âBe sure your sin will find you out.â

Itâs Wednesday, Ty Squad⌠and this is your reminder that procrastination will quietly rob you of the life you keep praying for.
Tomorrow is too late. Start TODAY.
If youâre tired of that job, start filling out applications today.
If you want to go back to school, research the program today.
If you dream of owning a business, start planning today.
A restaurant, a clothing line, candle making, content creation, a book, a ministryâwhatever God placed in your spirit, stop waiting for the âperfect time.â
The perfect time rarely comes.
Small steps still move you forward. One phone call, one application, one class, one investment, one idea written down⌠it all matters. Your goals, dreams, and aspirations deserve action, not endless delay.
Ty Squad, donât let fear, comfort, or exhaustion talk you out of your future. Start where you are. Use what you have. Trust God with the rest.
âWhatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might" -Ecclesiastes 9:10

The Official Tyesse Report
Memorial Day carries a deeper history than many people realize. Black Americans have honored fallen soldiers since the end of the Civil War, when formerly enslaved people in Charleston, South Carolina gathered to properly bury Union soldiers and commemorate their sacrifice. From the very beginning, remembrance has been tied to dignity, freedom, faith, and survival.
So on this day of remembrance, let us honor those who gave their lives⌠but also remember the goodness of God and His faithfulness through every generation. Through war, injustice, hardship, loss, and uncertainty, God has still kept us. He has carried our ancestors, sustained our families, and covered us with grace we did not deserve but desperately needed.
And as Hebrews speaks of âso great a cloud of witnesses,â may we remember those who came before us â the praying grandmothers, the freedom fighters, the faithful elders, the soldiers, the marchers, the survivors, and the saints whose sacrifices still speak even after they are gone. We are standing on prayers, perseverance, and purpose that did not begin with us.
Today, may we pause not only to remember sacrifice, but to give thanks for mercy, protection, endurance, and the unfailing love of God.
âThe steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.â (Lamentations)
