The most profound journeys begin when we stop rushing—and start noticing the value, trade-offs, and costs of moving through the world.

Shaped by two decades in journalism and finance, I’ve learned a place’s soul isn’t in landmarks—but in the intersection of culture, economics, and the quiet moments most people pass by. This channel is an inquiry into unspoken truths. We don’t just show you where to go; we explore why we stay and how we build.

What to Expect:

The Arbitrage: Long-form videos merging travel, social insight, and the hidden costs of everyday life.

Field Notes: Tactical travel guides designed to solve logistics for the modern traveler.

Side Trips: Immersive dives into "cultural dividends"—theater, arts, and the entertainment defining a destination’s spirit.

Because every place reflects the choices we make. Value or cost. Own yours.

There were times that my nephew teaches me how to play online games. It's always a great bonding experience.

To our community of builders, parents, and observers:

How do we actually keep the next generation safe in a rapidly expanding digital economy?

Today, Roblox took a highly practical step by launching Family Zone (developed alongside MindTrust). It’s a dedicated co-play experience built on a simple premise: you cannot effectively govern a space you have never personally navigated.

Rather than locking down devices from a distance, the game flips the dynamic. Your kids guide you through the 3D environment, while interactive tutorials show you exactly how to manage account linking, screen time, spending caps, and content filters.

Furthermore, Roblox is collaborating with academic researchers at Northwestern University and the mental health nonprofit Koko to build guided modules on critical real-world issues like scam prevention and building resilience against bullying.

It’s an interesting structural pivot from passive restriction to active, shared digital literacy.

What are your thoughts on this approach to digital parenting? Let’s discuss in the comments below.

Cubao is the gravity well of Manila. No matter where your feet take you across the islands, the lines eventually lead back here.

I recently walked the terminal streets to gauge how the district is shifting under massive redevelopment. Decades ago, it carried a distinct edge—synonymous with bag-slashing and street grit. Today, while glass towers rise, the old muscle memory of the neighborhood remains. A few concerned locals still tapped my shoulder to remind me: keep a tight grip on that iPhone.

In this week’s episode, we approach the area through a purely logistical lens. Instead of fighting the brutal rush-hour queues and gridlock, we look at how to turn a forced delay into a productive culture crawl.

The classics are on top of our priorities whenever visiting BAGUIO CITY. In our recent visit however, we tried ditching some of them to give space to some affordable finds.

Just in case you missed it, we posted two episodes about Baguio just recently. Sharing the links below for your indulgence:

1. Where to Eat in Baguio? https://youtu.be/NLbEultKIkY
2. Overtourism: How to Bypass the Baguio Overload - https://youtu.be/7MLavIoHMf0

This is the usual scene every morning at the Dinahican Port in Infanta, Quezon. Fishermen bring in their fresh catch to supply the village's seafood needs.

More about this in the recent episode of The Arbitrage here: https://youtu.be/btk3DW7_A-o

The new episode is live. We took the Ford Everest up the steep ridges of Benguet to look at the real price of silence in modern travel. From the preserved pockets of Camp John Hay to the stunning, sustainable walkways of Mt. Camisong Forest Park, we are auditing how we balance our need for rest with the footprint we leave behind. Watch the full Baguio episode now via the link below.

This footage, originally captured during a journey through Dinadiawan, Dipaculao, Aurora, documents the exact physical profile of a coastline that has recently captured national attention due to the death of two Ateneo Basketball players. Beyond the pristine white sand and the comparison to major island destinations lies a complex, open-ocean environment where the Pacific undercurrents present a stark reality for unsuspecting visitors: https://youtu.be/ImhZWI7pJCQ

We’ve all been told that our greatest asset is our ability to endure. We endure the heat, the two-hour lines, and the quiet exhaustion of a system that demands we clock in, no matter the cost at the pump.

But when the price of simply moving from Point A to Point B begins to consume the very wages we travel to earn, movement stops being a basic right. It becomes a luxury.

We went down to the Pasig River to look at a striking contradiction: a free, fully subsidized waterway that sits largely empty, while the asphalt roads just meters away are paralyzed by a crisis of affordability. It’s a look at the broken math of our daily commute, and the real price we pay in hours sacrificed just trying to arrive.

If you haven't seen it yet, or if you're feeling the weight of the roads today, watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/_FO-FftNQFA

How many hours of your day are lost just trying to commute?
