If You’re Waiting For Southwest Applications To Open…READ THIS!
You didn’t hear this from me… but if becoming a Southwest Flight Attendant has been on your vision board, this is your sign to GET READY.
When opportunities like this open up, they don’t stay open long. In fact, the next application window is expected to be very short think hours, not days. And while I can’t say when that window will be, if it were ME..I would get my resume ready in the next 2-3 days 😏 Do with that information what you see fit.
Translation? This is not the time to “wait and see.”
This is the time to:
• Update your resume
• Tighten up your cover letter
• Make sure your story is clear, confident, and compelling
If you’ve been sitting on a draft or second-guessing your application, give yourself a deadline: the next 3 days.
After that, it may be go-time.
Also, make sure you’re plugged into the Southwest Careers Talent Community (select “Flight Attendants & Inflight Operations”) so you’re not missing key updates when things move.
I’ll say it like this… the people who are ready will have the advantage.
If you want a second set of eyes on your resume or cover letter, now is the moment to get it reviewed, rewritten, or refined.
Because when the window opens… you won’t have time to prepare. Only time to apply.
Stay ready ✈️

For Those Who Applied to Southwest Flight Attendant, Here’s What Happens Next
I know many of you were fortunate enough to apply for the Southwest Flight Attendant position during that very short application window. Since then, I have received quite a few messages asking the same question, “I haven’t heard anything yet, am I still being considered?”
I want to take a moment to ease your mind.
Based on the official communication from Southwest, every applicant is still being considered until you receive written confirmation stating that they have decided not to move forward with your application. Until you receive that message, you are still in the process.
Southwest has already begun reviewing applications in the order they were received and is inviting qualified candidates to complete a One-Way Video Interview. This part of the process takes time, especially when you consider the volume of applicants. Over 15,000 applications were submitted in approximately 35 minutes. That means some candidates may hear back quickly, while others may not hear anything for several weeks or even a couple of months. That timeline is normal and it does not reflect your qualifications.
The most important advice I can give you right now is to be patient and use this time wisely.
Instead of stressing about when your interview invitation will arrive, focus on preparing so that when it does, you are ready. There is no benefit in rushing into an interview without strong, well thought out responses. This is the perfect opportunity to solidify your “tell me about a time” stories, polish your STAR responses, review your body language, and plan your interview outfit.
Preparation is what separates strong candidates from those who feel overwhelmed once the interview begins.
Remember, Southwest is inviting candidates based on the order applications were received. They may reach out next week, next month, or even later, but timing alone does not determine selection. Consistency, patience, and preparation matter far more.
As always, I am here to support you through this process. If you feel rusty with interviews, unsure how to structure STAR responses, or struggle with translating your past experience into flight attendant relevant stories, I offer several affordable prep options designed specifically for this role.

Whether you use my resources or your own, use this waiting period intentionally. When the opportunity comes, you want to walk in calm, confident, and prepared.
You are still in the running. Stay patient, stay focused, and keep preparing.
Happy Holidays!

Hey Future Cabin Crew,
I wanted to personally reach out because today is the day.
Southwest Airlines has officially announced that their Flight Attendant applications will be opening today, Tuesday, December 16, around 1:30 p.m. Central Time. The application window is expected to be short, so preparation and timing matter.
Here is what I want you to focus on today:
• Make sure your resume is finalized and ready to upload
• Have all required documents easily accessible
• Plan to apply as early as possible once the posting goes live
• Stay calm, focused, and intentional throughout the process
Southwest is known for moving quickly, and this is not an application you want to rush or submit without reviewing. This is a highly competitive opportunity, and attention to detail matters.
If you are one of my clients who has completed interview prep or STAR response work, trust the preparation you have done. If you are still polishing or feel unsure, now is the time to slow down and be strategic, not reactive.
I am rooting for you and truly excited to see so many of you take this step. Show up prepared, confident, and aligned with who Southwest looks for.
I will be sharing additional reminders and tips as the day goes on.
You’ve got this.
Xoxo Courtney

BREAKING NEWS
Austin, Texas — WE SEE YOU 👀
Southwest just announced a new AUS crew base opening in March 2026, and yes… this is a big deal.
Now before everyone packs their cowboy boots and thinks they’re transferring straight out of training, let me lovingly manage expectations for a sec 😅
💡 What this really means for new flight attendants:
• Austin has been a VERY desired base for years
• It used to be a satellite base, closed, and now it’s reopening
• There is a backlog of flight attendants with YEARS of seniority who have been waiting on AUS
• So realistically… this will not be a base most new hires can go to straight out of training
🫶🏽 BUT don’t be discouraged!
If Austin is your dream, absolutely put it on your hopeful base list. New bases = growth, movement, and opportunity over time. Seniority always shifts eventually.
Bottom line:
Not a right out of training situation for most…
But definitely a “keep your eye on it” situation 👀✨
Drop a 🤠 if AUS is on your vision board, and I’ll keep you posted as more info comes out!
Courtney 💛❤️💙
