Music. Politics. Heresy.
Some people preserve the culture. Dwann B corrects it.

Dwann B - The Cultural Heretic
Earth, Wind & Fire helped pave much of the road that Michael Jackson would later travel. They demonstrated that Black American music could reach massive crossover audiences without abandoning its musical depth, spirituality, or uplifting themes. Their high-vibrational message, elaborate stage productions, pyrotechnics, illusions, and arena-sized performances helped establish the blueprint for the modern pop spectacle.
In many ways, Michael Jackson took elements that Earth, Wind & Fire had already pioneered and elevated them to an even greater commercial level through his extraordinary dancing, visual storytelling, and solo star power. While MJ transformed the formula, Earth, Wind & Fire helped create the foundation.

Happy 100th Birthday to one of the five most important artists of the 20th century, in my opinion — Miles Davis. We’re all living in his world.
From bebop to cool jazz, modal jazz, and jazz fusion, Miles constantly reinvented the sound of modern music. His innovations helped shape R&B, funk fusion, neo-soul, lo-fi, hip hop, and countless other subgenres that followed. Few artists changed the direction of music as many times — or as deeply — as Miles Davis.

Rest in peace to the legendary James Anthony Carmichael. One of the hidden architects behind the sound of The Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, The Commodores, Atlantic Starr and more.
This post only contains a few screenshots from the full tribute article I wrote honoring my father-in-law and one of the greatest arrangers and producers in Black American music history.

Drake is the Led Zeppelin of hip hop. Led Zeppelin came from the UK and became America’s most famous band by patchworking stolen music and lyrics from the blues. Drake came from Canada to the U.S. sounding like Phonte. His new album, like all of his previous albums, is a patchwork of stolen music and verses from previous greats.
The worst part is that his version of everything he stole is unseasoned. No groove, no pocket — just bland compared to the original. Just like Led Zeppelin.
