RANKED with Charles & McCurdy

People really have trouble considering character and intention. Mary Goodnight is annoying and unlucky, but all of that is on purpose. That's her character. You may not like it but it was by design and written with intention, and the filmmakers successfully brought that intended character to life. Jinx Johnson could have been made likeable in a million different ways but in the end her overall presentation was unintentionally awkward and forced and completely empty because of lazy writing on top of a bad performance.

The filmmakers intentions with Jinx were that she would be so super badass and we would love her so much that she'd get her own spinoff, which failed because the character failed because in the end we didn't know a thing about her other than faux badass-ness that was ultimately empty. She was nothing more than a 007 gender swap without the underlying James Bond substance or character. She is the "kiss kiss bang bang" shallow character that one movie critic said of Sean Connery back in the 60's.

Every time I see comments like this it reminds me of how most people have no idea what's going on in a movie/story and simply like the pretty colors.
