Volkswagen’s plans for a military partnership with Israel’s Rafael have been vetoed by the German automaker’s Qatari investors, media reported Friday.

Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, Volkswagen’s third-largest shareholder, rejected management’s proposal to manufacture missile components and military vehicles at the company’s Osnabruck plant, the Bild newspaper reported.

The proposal has recently sparked significant controversy within Germany.

Volkswagen employees, peace activists and opposition politicians have criticised the plan and organise protests, arguing the automaker should focus exclusively on civilian production.

Thirty-one years after the Srebrenica Genocide, families in Bosnia are preparing to bury 10 newly identified victims, whose remains will be laid to rest at the Potocari Memorial Cemetery on July 11.

Since the war, victims — who have so far been recovered from 150 locations, including 77 mass graves, and who are identified through DNA analysis — have been buried there each year on the anniversary of the genocide.

This year's coffins, draped in green funeral cloth, include those of the youngest victim to be recently recovered (Senad Jusic, who was 20 when he was killed), and the oldest to be recently recovered (Ramo Dautovic, who perished at 56). The other recently identified victims are Muriz Barakovic, Hamed Music, Ramo Alic, Muhidin Osmanovic, Huso Cerimovic, Nuko Nukic, Ahmet Guster and Asim Kunic.

So far, 6,772 victims have been buried at Potocari, while another 250 were laid to rest elsewhere at their families' request. The remains of more than 1,000 victims of the genocide are still missing.

“Amazon delivers genocide in Gaza”, “Amazon AI bombs kids”

Pro-Palestine activists staged a kayak protest in Seattle on July 4 to disrupt an event co-organised by Amazon.

Organisers said around 20 boats gathered in front of the venue, with demonstrators chanting, “Amazon, you can’t hide, you sell tech for genocide” and “Say it loud, say it clear, Amazon is a war profiteer.”

“The Amazon Worker Intifada aims to disrupt business as usual, shift public attention from celebration to accountability, and pressure Amazon executives to cut ties with Israel and drop Projects Nimbus and Sirius,” organisers said in a press release shared with TRT World.

A Palestinian artist painted a mural of Egypt national football team head coach Hossam Hassan on the rubble of a destroyed home in Gaza after the coach dedicated Egypt’s historic World Cup qualification to both the Egyptian and Palestinian people following the team’s victory over Australia.

The artwork depicts Hassan carrying the Palestinian and Egyptian flags together.

Artist Obeid Al-Karshelli said the mural was created as a gesture of appreciation for Hassan’s solidarity with the people of Palestine.

“I dedicate this victory to another people alongside the Egyptian people. I dedicate it to the Palestinian people, who have never failed to support us,” Hassan told beIN Sports.
