🌅 Opening the sailing season at the end of winter/beginning of spring 2025, I found myself once again enchanted by the breathtaking island of Hydra 🏝️ nestled in the heart of Greece. Following a cold front from the north, we were blessed with perfect Mediterranean weather - brilliant blue skies ☀️ and crystal-clear waters 💙 as visible in every photo.

Saturday gifted us with a day of leisure during the prestigious 52nd Greek Revolution Regatta – Hydra 2025 (March 21-23) 🏆⛵. This well-deserved rest came between two demanding races, with distant white sails still visible on the sapphire horizon.

The island itself is a charming time capsule with just one settlement and absolutely no cars or roads! 🚫🚗 All transportation happens on the backs of the island's four-legged residents - the hardworking donkeys and mules adorned with traditional colorful saddles and blankets 🐴. These faithful companions navigate the cobblestone pathways between pine trees and spring wildflowers, as shown in my photos.

The historic character of Hydra is preserved in its ancient cannons 💣 that still stand guard over the harbor, now serving as perfect perches for the island's content feline residents 😺 who seem to rule this peaceful domain with quiet dignity.

The picturesque marina serves as the main gateway to this enchanting world, where sailboats and yachts create a stunning foreground to the whitewashed buildings that cascade down the hillsides. From scenic viewpoints, wooden benches invite visitors to pause and absorb the panoramic vistas of distant mountains embracing the azure Aegean waters.

In Hydra, time stands still as nature and history coexist in perfect harmony - a sailor's paradise and a welcome respite from our modern, hurried world 🌊✨.
