If you look at the current prices (~$80) of the original Sony PS1 scart cable you might think it's a great choice for modern gaming scalers. According to my testing it's not. The higher the resolution of the game the more decline in image quality (check second image) I don't know the reason for that but it's not LPF. Bad shielding? Limits of composite video? Maybe some of the hardware/cable experts can provide a possible explanation. BTW I tried different scaler settings including sampling phase.
