In 2002, Israel imprisoned Marwan Barghouthi, who was a sitting parliamentarian at the time of his arrest. He was convicted by a court he did not recognise, following a trial that international legal experts criticised as flawed and illegal.
Like Nelson Mandela, his struggle for freedom has come to symbolise the struggle of an entire nation, and like Mandela, he is a passionate football fan who believes in the power of sport to unite people.
This year, Marwan will miss the chance to watch another World Cup with his children, the seventh since his arrest. In his honour, we have designed a new “Free Marwan” football shirt inspired by the 2002 Palestine national team jersey, the same year he was taken prisoner.

My comrade Thiago Avila has been illegally captured by the apartheid state of Israel, in international waters, and has now been detained, and tortured for more than a week. We need to ask for his freedom. Another comrade, Saif AbuKeshek is also suffering from the same treatment.

NEW: CPJ welcomes the news that Ahmed Shihab-Eldin has been acquitted by the Kuwaiti government. Full details are still being ascertained but his international legal team confirms that he has been found innocent of the charges and he is expected to be released imminently.

La nouvelle édition de "Défier le récit des puissants" mon livre avec Ken Loach (avec Ken, Sylvie et Jean-Pierre les éditeurs, et mon frère Florent, qui a traduit le livre, sur ces photos) est en librairie aujourd'hui.
Ce livre fut le fruit de longues discussions avec Ken Loach sur sa manière de faire du cinéma, de créer, de travailler avec les acteurs/actrices, de sa collaboration avec Paul Laverty, mais aussi, bien évidemment, de l'aspect politique de ce médium à un moment ou les oligarques du monde entier veulent mettre la main sur les studios, les maisons d'éditions, la presse, les médias TV....
Ken faisait du cinéma avec cette idée en tete, comment, souvent à partir d'une histoire simple, parler du problème plus global du capitalisme en essayant de le déconstruire pour finalement le détruire.
