I’m Pyotr Kurzin, host of The Global Gambit. I’ve spent years working across Africa and Eastern Europe with the World Bank and the International Crisis Group, and trained in strategic studies and economic statecraft at Johns Hopkins SAIS.
This isn’t second-hand commentary — it’s first-hand field and policy experience brought straight to you. Everyone has biases — but the only way to really grow is to test them, step out of our comfort zones, and avoid echo chambers. That’s exactly what this channel is for. Pyotr prides himself in engaging all sides.

We seem to be returning to Iran-US escalations with limited signs of restraint. Given the previous global fallout from it, do you want me to cover as much with streams or focus elsewhere?

Trump came to Ankara demanding Europe spend more, do more, and stop relying on America.
Europe is doing exactly that. Just not in the way he wanted.
While he threatened to pull US troops out over Greenland and demanded 5% GDP on defence, European allies arrived with billions in new arms contracts and a naval mission for the Strait of Hormuz.
They're not scrambling to please him. They're building a security architecture designed to function without Washington.
He wanted burden-sharing. He's getting European autonomy. Those are very different things.
A dependent ally is an asset. An independent one starts making its own choices — about China, about Turkey, about how much American unpredictability it's willing to absorb.
Trump asked Europe to stand up. It did. And it's doing so entirely on its own terms.

Alright guys, we’re finally going to be starting regular weekly streams, usually solo, but occasionally with guests and fellow creators.
The point is to have a recurring schedule for us to come together - exact timing may change, but right now I’m thinking every Sun 2 pm UK / 9 am EST and Wed 9 pm / 4 pm. That said, vote for your preference below.
