On April 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed that cattle on a farm in [New Mexico](www.aphis.usda.gov/news/agency-announcements/usda-… tested positive for a strain of bird flu called H5N1. The news followed a March 25 announcement that officials had detected the virus on [two dairy farms in Kansas and two Texas farms]
The virus was also detected in [a Michigan herd](www.aphis.usda.gov/news/agency-announcements/usda-… had recently received cows from Texas, the USDA reported on March 29. Five additional herds in Texas have tested positive, and an outbreak in Idaho is presumed to have been caused by H5N1

A person  on one of those Texas farms has tested positive too, becoming only the second person in the United States ever documented to be infected with H5N1, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported April 1. The individual is being treated with an antiviral drug for a single symptom, eye redness.

𝐂𝐁𝐒𝐄 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐎𝐁𝐄) 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝟗-𝟏𝟐, in line with the new National Curriculum Framework. A pilot run is scheduled for November-December in select schools to evaluate completion time and gather feedback. The trial will cover subjects like English, Maths, and Science for Classes 9-10, and Biology, English, and Maths for Classes 11-12. Emphasis is placed on the importance of high-quality textbooks, and there's talk of teachers taking open book exams first to understand the concept.



𝐎𝐁𝐄 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲. Open text-based assessments (OBTAs) are introduced to encourage critical thinking.

CBSE aims to assess higher-order thinking skills during the pilot and decide on wider implementation based on the experience. Plans to finalize the trial are set for June, with consultations with Delhi University for insights.
