🌟Next I'm going to shortly explain my current hiatus in this post:
I'm really sorry for the hiatus without really any announcement in advance🙇🏻‍♀️So around the end of the last year I started to become busier and busier, to a point where I just couldn't keep up with my previous Youtube schedule. Around the same time I was also experimenting with short videos on Instagram, and realized that not only did they take less time to produce but they were also getting a lot more attention🥲So naturally I felt a lot more motivated to post over there.
If you didn't know I still post regularly over on my Instagram account. They're mostly light-hearted skits about Taiwan. So if that also sounds like what you'd be interested in you're more than welcome to check it out🤗The link is on my main page!!
For the time being a lot is going on in life and I honestly don't know when I'll post another video on this channel again, or even go back to regular posting, but I've really had the best memories over the past two years with the growth of this channel, and I have only you guys to thank, really🥹Thank you for your support, and hopefully we'll meet again on Instagram, or on this channel again someday❤️

👻Ghost month Taiwanese movie recommendation👻

Ghost month is here!!! So I'm here with a Taiwanese movie about marrying a ghost👻

You might remember this horrifying culture in Taiwan I previously shared, where if you pick up random red envelopes on the street in Taiwan, you might end up marrying a ghost. And this movie is exactly about that, but with a twist: it's gay marriage after it's been legalized in Taiwan!!!

This movie is a comedy with some horror elements here and there. Most importantly, it features the process of the ceremony of marrying a ghost in Taiwan, and shows gender discriminations that still exist in Taiwan to this day. The story is funny and heartwarming at the same time. So I'd really like to recommend it to you all if you're interested in this specific cultural aspect🤗

The movie is on Netflix just recently. Not sure if it's only the Taiwanese Netflix though, so you might need VPN to get access to it. Once you do there's English subtitle, so hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it😉

Hi guys🤗So I'm planning to make a video where I take some questions you have about Taiwan or Taiwanese people, and ask them on the biggest Taiwanese social media - Dcard, so that you can get some genuine responses from a bigger group of Taiwanese people instead of always just me. Would you guys be interested in Mandarin tutor class with me? Like through actual real-time meeting call, NOT pre-recorded classes, so I'll be able to correct your pronunciation and everything on spot.

As teaching Mandarin Chinese along with Taiwanese culture has been my dream for a while, I'm currently organizing a course on Patreon. It'll most likely be a monthly group meeting separated into different levels. For beginners I plan to just teach simple words and basic sentences you can immediately use to impress your Chinese friends; and if you're already learning Mandarin, I suppose it'll also be nice to practice with a native speaker who speaks a different accent than what you might have learnt from the standard mainland Chinese. I'll of course prepare some speaking practices based on different levels.

So that being said, I'd like to know first if any of you might be interested in such course so I can plan ahead. Please keep in mind that it's not free though since I'm also doing this for the fund to support this channel😅So please don't worry about hurting my feelings and just be honest if you really don't think it's something you would pay for.

Your suggestions will also be greatly appreciated, so please let me know in the comment if you have any expectations on the Mandarin lessons with me, like maybe what kind of help or practice you'd be needing the most!! Thank you in advance for your feedback🙏

If you haven't been following the news, recently China's military activities around Taiwan has intensified. They have been flying warplanes, doing military drills in Taiwan strait with actual live fire!! This is because the US house speaker Nancy Pelosi earlier has announced her plan to visit Taiwan, which would be "the highest level trip in 25 years by a US government official to Taiwan (WSJ)" since the 1997 visit of Newt Gingrich.

As I'm typing this right now, Nancy Pelosi has just landed in Taiwan, and the CCP hasn't seemed to make their responses, but of course many Taiwanese are worried about what would happen next, not just during her stay, but about how this event could impact the relationship between China and Taiwan, for better or for worse.

From the comments I've seen on the internet so far, there seems to be two sides of opinions from Taiwanese people: some either agree to or do not mind her visit since they don't believe CCP is actually capable of a full scale military attack. It's even seen as a progress towards independence by a few; on the other hand, some disagree to this visit and even show resentment towards her because it's angering China even more and expose Taiwan into more threats of a military invasion.

So do you guys think it's good or bad for Taiwan? Please also comment and let me know if you have some more thoughts on this event! If you're from the US you might have a clearer view of what your politician is trying to achieve with this move, so I'm definitely very interested in knowing how you guys see this.
