ASHLAND — Local youth, business owners, and law enforcement officers are teaming up to tackle underage drinking directly at the checkout counter. Members of the Ashland Youth Prevention Council recently launched their latest "Sticker Shock" campaign, visiting local retail establishments to place public safety warning labels directly onto alcohol packaging. The initiative is designed to create a highly visible reminder about the legal and safety risks of providing alcohol to minors. Several prominent local retailers opened their doors to partner with the youth volunteers, including Clock Town Liquors, Main Street, and Lucky Farms. The bright prevention messages are strategically placed to catch the eye of adult buyers, reminding them that purchasing or providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 carries strict legal penalties. Organizers emphasize that the campaign isn't just about enforcement, but about shifting the responsibility of youth safety to a community-wide effort. The Youth Prevention Council and town organizers expressed gratitude to the participating local businesses and law enforcement partners for their active support in protecting the health and safety of Ashland’s youth.
