📊 These Deductions Could Save You Thousands at Tax Time

Accounting is one of the most underrated tools in small business — especially for resellers. Every mile, meal, and moment on the road counts when you’re sourcing inventory at thrift shops, flea markets, or garage sales.

These are my 2025 expense receipts from physical locations (not including online purchases). Every one of them matters: gas, food, supplies, Wi-Fi, storage, and even your photo setup gear.

⚠️ Important: You can either deduct the mileage or your actual vehicle expenses like gas, oil changes, and maintenance — not both. Pick whichever gives you the higher deduction and stay consistent.

Too many resellers wait until the end of the year and scramble — leaving thousands on the table. Build your system now:
✅ Track every expense
✅ Keep receipts organized
✅ Review mileage logs regularly
✅ Work with an accountant who understands reselling

Deadstock vs Dead stock — there’s a big difference. 👖

🧵 Deadstock means unworn vintage with the original factory tags still attached.
🪡 Dead stock just means old unsold inventory — it’s vintage, but not truly new.

These Levi’s 501XX Made in USA jeans were the real deal — Deadstock.
They were still hanging on the rack for only $10… and sold the next day for $425.15 (listed for $499, buyer used a coupon).

Maybe I priced them a little low, but turning $10 into $425 is a win every time.
That’s what fuels the next flip, the next find, and keeps the momentum rolling 🔥

When I first started sourcing, I only chased brand names—thinking that was the whole game. I didn’t realize that within those brands, certain fits, sizes, styles, and cuts carry way more value. I used to wonder how other resellers were finding these “big ticket” items when I thought I had the same ones in my shop… not knowing that what looks the same often isn’t.

These vintage Lee Riders? A few years ago, I would’ve walked right past them. But they were Made in USA, New With Tags, and true deadstock—the kind of find that turns into a $70 sale from a $8 buy. That’s like a $50 bill sitting on the rack.

The goal is to never pass on items like this. They take less effort, sell for more, and have been a big part of why my business has grown leaps and bounds. 👊

Unable to scan thrifted clothing items? No problem!

This local thrift store had customers bag their shopped clothes in brown paper bags and write down their contact information to hold them for later pickup.

They may have lost some business today, but not mine. Kudos to them for quick thinking!

When I went to pick up my bags, an employee was smiling and dialing, letting customers know they could come back and pay for their items!

Picking and listing desirable items with a cushion of profit margin spread is paramount for a successful e-commerce store.
