Not too long ago, we were chilling at a parking lot packed with some of the hardest tuned rides in the city, and it got us hyped to cook up a gritty Memphis banger with those heavy basslines.
My new ambient track just dropped today — been a minute since I made one of these. Poured my whole mood for this month into it: a little disappointment, a little sadness, and somewhere in there… some kinda hope/anticipation too.
Was watching all these dudes — Dvrst, Ghostface Playa, Kxnvra, Pharmacist and the rest — and kept thinking about how they were literally there at the start of phonk. They started making this stuff when the genre was still coming up, and they blew up almost instantly. Now they got stadiums, huge crowds, fans screaming every track word for word.
And moments like that really make you overthink your own path.
Cause I could’ve started the right way too — making my own shit, finding my own sound — instead of copying kslv and trying to come up through somebody else’s style. And now I realize how fucked that was for me as an artist. While other people were building themselves up as artists, I was basically building a shadow of another artist.
And the weirdest part is that only now I finally feel like I’m starting to make something more original, trying new stuff, looking for a different sound… but it already feels too late. Like everything that could’ve blown up already blew up without me. And even if I make something actually hard right now, it probably won’t feel as fresh, as unique, or as important to people as it did back then for them.
The worst part is knowing you can’t get time back. And when you see artists like that live, you start thinking — what if I chose a different path back then? Would everything be different now?
Idk man. After the concert I just feel completely drained when it comes to music, like all the motivation disappeared outta nowhere.
So yeah… I honestly don’t know when I’ll have the motivation to make music again.

Lowkey tilted after the concert.
