Egg Whisperer Show

In 2016, Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh, started her weekly Egg Whisperer Show as a way of promoting fertility awareness. Met with her characteristic kindness and humor, Dr. Aimee’s focus on the Egg Whisperer Show is to provide information to her audience that they can not find anywhere else, and present it in a way that is accessible, and easy to understand.

Each week she takes to Facebook Live and YouTube from her studio to talk about topics that range from debunking fertility myths, to sharing about fertility procedures, and providing practical tips on giving oneself fertility shots. She also interviews expert guests who share about topics such as nutrition, acupuncture, men’s fertility, and sperm.

I’ve yet to meet someone that dreamed of the day they could become my patient.

You may fantasize about your next vacation destination, or the day you buy a house, or seeing your future child graduate from high school. But I’m guessing that when you think of those milestones in life, nowhere in that world are you thinking about me — a fertility doctor?

It’s just not happening.

And here’s the thing — while I love my patients and have been known to tell a good joke or two, it’s my honest hope that I never have to meet you.

That’s because deep down, I want to PREVENT infertility. My job as a doctor is to do my best to ensure I educate you enough that many of you will never need to visit me.

Of course, many of you may become my patients, and I truly do love the work I get to do.

Today on the podcast, I’m making the bold move to outline how you can go about not becoming my patient. If you follow Patagonia clothing company, they have ads that say, “Don’t Buy This Shirt.” They are a company that’s about sustainability. They don’t want you to buy another shirt. Well, I guess I’m the Patagonia of fertility medicine. I don’t want you to need my services.

Listen: draimee.org/the-truth-about-fertility-drugs

Today on The Egg Whisperer Show podcast, I'm talking about the truth about fertility drugs.

If you’re a patient of mine, you’ve probably heard me talk about pharmgina, vagaseltzer, smurfgina and more.

Most fertility treatment hinges on the strategic use of drugs to help the body be as fertile as possible. My goal is to give each of my patients a personalized fertility plan with custom calendars of what to do, which drug to take, and when.

Today on the podcast, I’m walking through fertility calendars (keeping things confidential, of course) and talking about the drugs I commonly use to give my patients the best chance at fertility success.

Even though you will probably find yourself laughing during the show, these drugs shouldn’t be taken lightly. They can be hard pills to swallow.

I will talk about common and not so common side effects as well as my pro tips and tricks that I use to guide my patients during treatment.

Egg Whisperer Show

I’m honored to be featured in this recent NY Post story about how AI is beginning to transform the future of IVF and fertility care. 🤍

One of the most incredible stories in the article follows a couple who were able to conceive after AI technology identified just 8 viable sperm that other, traditional methods had missed.

That’s the kind of breakthrough that reminds me why innovation in fertility care matters so much.

As I shared in the article, we’re not yet at the point where AI is completely choosing which egg and sperm to use to create embryos without human involvement, but we are getting closer to using these tools to help guide selection and improve outcomes in the IVF Lab.

The article also includes insights from Dr. Brian Levine, who shared that AI is helping reduce human error in IVF labs and could dramatically improve access to fertility care in the future.

This technology is moving fast, and I believe it’s important that we embrace it thoughtfully, ethically, and always with the patient experience at the center.

If you’ve heard all the good things about acupuncture for fertility, but haven’t tried it for yourself yet - what are you waiting for??

I recently sat down with acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner Mary Wong @meetmarywong and we got to deep dive on the benefits of acupuncture for fertility. Mary has over 30 years of experience and she’s seen thousands of patients for fertility in that time, in addition to having her own fertility struggles before having her baby through IVF. She has seen time and time again the ways that acupuncture can really be a fertility journey gamechanger.

She mentioned to me during our conversation that, as more research is being done on the benefits of acupuncture for fertility, they’re seeing more and more positive connections: “We are seeing more statistically significant results where acupuncture can increase live birth rates, up to 20% or more.”

Acupuncture can also help in a lot of other really wonderful ways:
💙 Increases endorphin release, which stimulates the relaxation response
💙 Increases blood flow to the ovaries, uterus and testes
💙 Helps with sleep
💙 Moderates blood sugar

In fact, Mary has also seen excellent results in her own clinic in inducing ovulation and regulating cycles:
“When people have irregular menstrual cycles, especially if they have something like PCOS, we can help to induce ovulation and we can help to regulate menstruation. If you’re trying to conceive naturally, that’s a game-changer because if you don’t know when you’re ovulating or if you don’t know that you’re ovulating at all, that’s not going to help you.”

If you’re still on the fence about adding acupuncture to your own treatment plan, or even if you’re just curious about all the benefits and how to go about finding your own fertility acupuncturist, tune in to my full conversation with Mary Wong here: draimee.org/how-acupuncture-can-support-your-ferti…

🌙Could your sleep be affecting your fertility?

In a recent conversation on The Egg Whisperer Show, I spoke with Dr. Sarah Nowakowski, sleep researcher, to talk about the powerful connection between sleep and reproductive health.

Here are 5 takeaways from our conversation:

🧬Sleep and hormones are deeply connected
Sleep duration can influence key reproductive hormones like FSH, LH, estrogen, and progesterone.

🌃Shift work can impact fertility
Working overnight disrupts your circadian rhythm, which plays a direct role in hormonal balance.

⚠️Short sleep is linked to pregnancy loss
Sleeping less than 6 hours has been associated with higher rates of pregnancies that don’t result in a live birth.

😴The goal is 7 to 9 hours
Most adults need more sleep than they think and both quality and quantity matter.

💡CBT-I is the top treatment for insomnia
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia is recommended over medication for long-term results.

Your Genetics are a key part of my TUSHY Method (Y = Your genetics) and I'm so honored to have Dena Goldberg (also known far and wide as @dena.dna) joining me today!

Some of the questions I know you have on your mind about genetics are:

Q: Nothing came back on my 23 & Me test. I'm good to go, right?
A: Not so fast. 23&Me relies on "SNP testing," and only looks at "very specific bookmarks on very random genes." You'll want a more thorough test for preconception screening.

Q: I don't have any history of disease in my family. Do I need to do genetic testing?
A: It's a good idea. There are syndromes such as Lynch Syndrome that are asymptomatic in 90% of people who are carriers. You'll want to know if you have those genetic markers before passing them on to your embryo and child.

Q: Can you make sure my embryo doesn't have autism?
A: Autism is actually a description of a constellation of symptoms. So it's not an underlying condition in and of itself. There are hundreds to thousands of genetic causes to autism. We can catch some of these cases, but not all. Autism is multifactorial, meaning that many of these cases are probably caused by a combination of genetics and environment or in other words, nature and nurture together.

Thank you for joining me, Dena!

Is your gut messing with your fertility?

I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Alex Carrasco on The Egg Whisperer Show to dive into something we all need to pay attention to: our gut health.

As someone who's both a fertility doctor and a curious nerd for all things that support pregnancy success, I found this conversation so helpful. Dr. Carrasco is board certified in family and integrative medicine, and she’s spent the last decade studying how our microbiome (aka the trillions of bacteria, viruses, and fungi living in and on us) impacts everything from mood to hormones to, yes, your fertility.

💙We talk about what gut health really is
💙How to know if your symptoms - like bloating, constipation, or fatigue - could point to dysbiosis
💙Why inflammation in the gut might be stealing energy your body needs to support pregnancy
💙And how to support your gut with easy nutrition shifts like probiotic-rich foods (think: yogurt, kimchi, and sauerkraut)

She also shares why gut health matters before, during, and even after pregnancy: touching on her own story with preeclampsia and why we need to think preventively when it comes to the microbiome.

Whether you're TTC, already pregnant, or just trying to feel your best, this episode is for you.✨

And tell me: what’s your go-to gut-friendly food?

We see the before and after photos. We see the “congratulations!” banners at celebrations. We see the pros in their interviews talking about when they were just starting out. But we don’t see the “during”.

We don’t see the tries that resulted in momentary failure, or the willpower it took to get back up after a fall. We don’t see the plans that have to be changed, then changed again, or the self-doubt, or the pep talks from loved ones, or the moments that seem like “just another day.”

Did you know that when a caterpillar is inside its chrysalis, it’s undergoing a complete transformation at a cellular level? Their bodies are actually breaking down entirely, and reforming themselves into what we see when they emerge as beautiful butterflies. But anyone looking at a chrysalis from the outside sees only stillness - no movement, no biological chaos - nothing but the outer shell shielding the caterpillar from the elements while it metamorphosizes.

Being a fertility patient is sort of like being a caterpillar in a chrysalis. You’re undergoing an enormous transformation, one even you don’t understand sometimes until much later when you’re looking back.

This isn’t easy, and it’s certainly not tidy and organized. It’s messy and hard and wonderful and weird. It’s a LOT.

But I see you, my sparkles. I see the grit and determination you move with at every turn in your path. I see the strength in your body and your mindset. I see you doing so much work - inside and out.

People might not always be able to see how much you’re actually doing, or what you’re experiencing every day, but that doesn’t change the facts: you are actively in the middle of a transformation. You might feel like your life is coming apart sometimes, but really, you’re working hard to make room for your love and joy to expand into.

Just because you haven’t made your wings yet doesn’t mean you’re doing things wrong. It doesn’t mean they’re not coming, or that you’re going to be a puddle of goo forever. You’re in the “messy middle,” and even though it’s hard, continuing forward is what gets you through it.

Keep going, keep hoping, keep transforming. I’m cheering you on every step of the way.
