This song was inspired by a past manager. I wrote it about him the day I fired him and stopped taking his bs. It’s about choosing self respect, value and love. Letting people with ego and🪫energy take the award as that’s usually all they want. (Without contributing to any of the hard work and passion)
But making sure you walk away with dignity pride and your self esteem in tact. That’s the WIN!
Important and needed feelings, we all have to remind ourselves to keep present and active in life from time to time. Especially when someone else pulls us off track a little, or we self sabotage. This song resets my mind and heart like no other.
I wrote this song back in 2022, and it still makes me feel the same power when I sing it today. That’s my favourite thing about music, it stands the test of time and the same song can support you through different experiences. Ugh. The best. 🫀🔋
Being so pregnant with my miracle baby boy in my tummy, singing this song to a sold out London shepherd’s bush empire was so special and liberating. I wanted to share this song as a release so I can truly remember this moment forever, and with those who didn’t get to see it live and those who were there in the room that night.
Having the most wonderful talented singers hiding in the audience the whole show to surprise the crowd at the end with this song was so amazing. So grateful and so inspired by these memories forever. Thank you to everyone involved.
And never forget, life is about being celebrated, so go where you are!
To be recognised and celebrated with the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award really means a lot to me, especially after the last year. Personally and professionally it was one of the most magical and challenging years of my career and life so far. I feel so blessed, and eternally grateful for this life and for the ability to make music that still supports and connects with people all over the world, and holds their hands on a good and bad day. Music and performing live hands down is one of my favourite things in life, so I’m proud to be still doing it, while being recognised by the O2 Silver Clef Awards, especially with all the support and amazing work the Nordoff and Robbins do in music therapy. 🪄⚖️🌱🌍🫀🔑
