Sathya Sai Centre for Educare started informally as Sathya Sai Centre for Telok Blangah in 1983 in Depot Road. The name change to Sathya Sai Centre for Educare happened in 2006 when the Centre was formally registered with the Registry of Societies. The name change exemplifies the aim of the Centre and is in line with the Charter established by Bhagavan in 1980 which states that the fundamental object of the Sai Organisation is to "Awaken in Man the awareness of the Divinity inherent in him by propagating through practice and example the basic principles of Sathya (Truth), Dharma (Righteousness), Shanthi (Peace), Prema (Love) and Ahimsa (Non-violence).”
