It's Sunday, so it is time for a Sigma Selfie 🙂 Not long returned from a week exploring the edge of the Peak District near to Macclesfield, and visited the Three Shires Head falls on the final day. Brought out the Sigma 16-28mm f2.8 DG DN Contemporary lens for some wide angle action to capture the entire scene. I'll pop the processed final image on here at some point in the not too distant future 🙂

I recently picked up a Panasonix Lumix 28-200 f4-7.1 S lens, which I purchased for a specific purpose which will feature later in the year on my YouTube channel. However, I decided that it would be a good idea to put the lens through its paces BEFORE attempting to use it for real for its intended purchase. So, with a bluebell wood nearby I gave it a good workout to see what it was capable of.

It's Sunday, so it is time for my weekly Sigma Selfie, today in the form of Sigma's 105mm Macro. I've been very lucky to be able to borrow one, so I took it out to Sherborne market this morning to see what I could find. 🙂 Excellent market by the way and well worth a visit! Completely outside my comfort zone, and not exactly the most ideal situation for a Macro lens, but it didn't take long to find items of interest... AND even some people 🤗

I'm slowly trying out the Sigma Art zoom lenses, and in this weeks video on my YouTube channel I put the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 DG DN Art to the test in a local wild garlic wood. Admittedly, not the best of location choices for a wide zoom. But, if I could make the lens work for me here, then surely it would be a good choice? Right? 🙂

Had a brilliant day today at the Castle Cameras Spring Shoot event. The seminar room was standing room only for my talk which was both daunting and great to see at the same time. The event was packed with people for most of the day, and well attended by lens, camera, and photography accessory manufacturers. Most definitely an event worth considering if you want to hands-on investigate a potential purchase. A big thank you to Sam from ‪@sigmauk‬ for trusting me to present a talk and represent the brand, and to both Sam & Steve for their company today 🙂

Had a fantastic experience today at @fotofestwalsall participating in the show and taking on a presentation on behalf of ‪@sigmauk‬ . Even though I was the last speaker of the day I still managed to entertain and inform a healthy audience, with some lovely complimentary comments afterwards. Little photography events like this are on the rise, and it was superb to be asked to support it. Next up for me is Spring Shoot with Castle Cameras on Tuesday of next week 🙂

I have been very fortunate to have been able to borrow a Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 DG DN Art lens for a short while. On a whim today, I decided to challenge myself to use it in a wild garlic wood. Conditions were less than ideal but the combination of the lens and my Leica SL3 made good work of what I had in front of me 🙂

Its time for another Sigma Selfie (on Sunday)!

I've been mulling a project to do over the summer to keep the photographic brain ticking, and to avoid me picking the IR camera all the time. I know I struggle during the summer months, but am determined to use what summer provides, i.e. colourful flowers.

I've been mulling over the idea of a macro lens and really cannot decide, and suddenly remembered today that in my Olympus OM Zuiko lens collection I have a 50mm macro, AND I've got an OM-to-L-mount adapter!

So here is my Sigma fpL sporting said 50ish year old Zuiko lens on the adapter, trying to see what we could make of a colourful Iris in my back garden 🙂 The flower images are all out of camera JPGs.

A real treat arrived from Sigma UK - a loan of the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art lens for a few weeks. Charged up the Leica SL3 and headed out to a popular North Dorset woodland to see what I could capture. What a beauty of a lens - smooth, solid, reasonable weight, and the confidence of a quality result. A big thank you to my friends at Sigma UK for the opportunity 🙂
