From living in a minivan to touring the country in a Subaru, Michael Blakey is a Midwestern ball of energy filled with optimism, hope, and a nice dash of reality that keeps him grounded. In 2012, he left his home in Missouri on a quest to find himself, and to this day, the search continues. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and his fans know it. His vulnerability on and off stage is what attracts people to him and his music.
After every song, he peels back a new layer of how he views himself and his place in the world. His music is a genre-bending roller coaster. One moment, he's finger-picking his way to the softest part of your heart, and the next he's jumping off a drum riser or joining a circle pit in the crowd. His energy and presence on stage are sure to make you leave the show with a smile.

On social media, you see articles about AI artists making thousands off streaming, record labels using insane amount of $$ and gross bot account tactics to grow artists, everyone has a masterclass on what you're doing wrong, and it's just insane. The noise is real, and it's loud.
I know i'm not entitled to any sort of huge growth or anything for that matter. I have to earn it, and i'm doing what I can. I am playing shows, making as much content as I can, recording, writing, networking, and I even started a Patreon.
I'm doing everything. I'm not asking for a cookie or a reward, just damn I got stressed the other day.
Imposter syndrome kicked in and I called myself a failure because I felt like I couldn't compete with the "industry"
The point of this post is we all have bad days. Especially creatives. Yesterday I had one and it sucked, but I wrote some fun lyrics this morning; After writing them, I put my head down and I am doing my best to ignore the noise.

5 months ago I was living in St. Louis working a job to pay a mortgage for a house I was living in without my wife. When that job fired me, I panicked first, but then I did a happy dance because I knew I was moving to be with Lucy. Never been so happy to get canned.
As Standby For Love says: "Gonna pack my bags and sell this house, follow my heart and fly down south"
