Lately, my heart has been returning to one thought over and over again: the Hereafter. It's something we all know is inevitable, yet in the rush of everyday life, it's so easy to lose sight of it. We get caught up in chasing worldly goals, seeking people's approval, and worrying about things that are only temporary, while forgetting the only life that will truly last forever. The more I reflect on it, the more I realize how quickly this dunya passes and how much more important it is to prepare for what comes next. The more I reflect on the Hereafter, the more it changes the way I see this world fr It reminds me that every prayer, every act of patience, every hidden good deed, and every moment of sincerity is never wasted. It makes me question whether the choices I make today are actually bringing me closer to Allah or simply keeping me busy with this dunya. This life was never meant to be our final destination. It's only a journey, a test, and every single day is another chance to prepare for what comes after it. Remembering the Hereafter doesn't make life depressing—it gives it purpose. It teaches you to value what truly lasts, to let go of what is temporary, and to keep your heart attached to the One you'll stand before in the end. May Allah make us among those who remember the Hereafter often, live for His pleasure, and meet Him with hearts that are at peace. Ameen :)
Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (A.S) saw the scene of Karbala with his own eyes. And he lived for 40 years after that.
But the question is: did he ever take out horses on 10th Muharram? Did he strike knives on his shoulders? Did he injure himself with chains? So which tradition are you carrying forward? Can anyone grieve for Imam Hussain more than Imam Zain-ul-Abideen? Was his love for his father less than your love?
The Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ holds a special place in Islamic history. Long before Karbalā, it was a day known for worship and gratitude. The Prophet ﷺ fasted on this day after arriving in Madinah because it was the day Allah saved Prophet Mūsā (عليه السلام) and the Children of Israel from Firʿawn. He encouraged the Muslims to fast on it as an act of gratitude to Allah.
But for the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ, the 10th of Muharram also became the day of one of the greatest tragedies in history.
In the year 61 AH, on the plains of Karbalā, Imam al-Ḥusayn (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ), the beloved grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, stood for truth and justice. Despite being surrounded, denied water for days, and vastly outnumbered, he refused to surrender his principles.
One by one, his loyal companions and family members were martyred. Among them were his sons, his nephews, and his brothers. Hazrat al-ʿAbbās (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ), who had gone to bring water for the thirsty children, was martyred before he could return. The young Hazrat al-Qāsim (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ) embraced martyrdom. The infant, Hazrat ʿAlī al-Aṣghar (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ), was also martyred. Finally, Imam al-Ḥusayn (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ) himself was martyred after displaying unmatched patience, courage, and trust in Allah.
The women and children of the Prophet's household were taken captive, and Imam Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ), who was ill and therefore did not fight, survived to preserve the legacy of Karbalā.
ʿAshuraʾ reminds us that truth is not measured by numbers, and that faith sometimes demands sacrifice. It is a day of fasting, reflection, gratitude to Allah, and remembrance of the steadfastness shown by the family of the Prophet ﷺ.
May Allah have mercy upon Imam al-Ḥusayn (رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ), his family, and his companions, and grant us the courage to remain firm upon the truth. Ameen 🤍
9 Muharram As the night of Ashura approached, Imam Husayn (RA) and his companions turned to Allah in prayer and worship. Surrounded by hardship yet filled with faith, they spent their final night remembering their Lord. Their patience, sincerity, and unwavering commitment to truth remain a timeless lesson for us all.❤️🩹
