CONVEX
CONVEX, or the Collective Observations in/Near Vortices EXperiment, is a nationwide collaboration of storm chasers, atmospheric researchers, and extreme weather enthusiasts. CONVEX strives to unite amateur and professional data gathering from inclement weather, and more specifically, tornadoes. CONVEX has a fleet of tornado intercept probes and mobile weather stations. Founded in 2019 by Jared Stevenson, Blaize Edwards, and Evan Coverdill, CONVEX has had multiple successful deployments of their tornado probes and has gathered important data at or near ground level from around, and sometimes inside of, tornadoes.

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for our silence since Spring, but it's been a busy time for all of us here. We had a few successful probe deployments this year, but unfortunately, no direct hits. We also came across a few technical problems with our probes, which will need time to be rectified.
After a team discussion, we have decided that we will NOT be doing official operations in 2026. We need downtime for vehicle maintenance and upgrades, probe programming, and the all important mental health. Even when you're doing what you love, burnout is still a real thing. The team may look different when we return, but the passion and resolve will remain the same.
We hope to put the finishing touches on a few things throughout 2026, and then roar back in 2027. We'll also be spending 2026 fine-tuning our YouTube channel, and uploading videos from years past.
