39 years ago from today, Regine Velasquez released her debut album under Viva Records (distributed by Ivory Records) in vinyl & cassette format. This was later re-released in 1994 on CD format and January 6, 2002 in digital download.

This was her first full studio album after winning RPN 9's Ang Bagong Kampeon singing competition. This was also the first time she used "Regine" (Regina, her real name) as her stage name, suggested by Martin Nievera in an episode of "The Penhouse Live!"

NOTE: Her first single "Love Me Again" was not included in this album as it was released under OctoArts. This song was later given to Jamie Rivera when Regine transferred to Viva Records.

This album was an introduction to Regine's iconic & unique sound. The carrier single "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" & "Urong-Sulong" both written by Christine Bendebel became 2 of her signature hits that stood the test of time. Many have covered these 2 songs over the years.

"Isang Lahi" was used as a theme song for the 1986 film "Gabi Na, Kumander" starring Eddie Garcia & Philip Salvador. This Vehnee Saturno classic is about Filipino patriotism and unity as one race, fitting for a movie about war. Over the years, it has been sung and/or mentioned during campaigns.

"EBB Tide" is the only international song covered in this album. The other songs are all original Filipino compositions. This is a Frank Chacksfield original, composed by Robert Maxwell and Carl Sigman released in 1953.

Other notable tracks in this album are: "Maybe Now, Maybe Then", written by Nina Puno & "The One I Love", written by Mon del Rosario.
