Most quilting content tells you what to do. I dig into why it works.
When you understand the fundamentals, you stop hesitating and start creating freely.
No quilt police. No pressure. No perfection required.
Looking for free patterns, courses, and a community of quilters who'd rather understand their craft than just follow steps — where questions are welcome and nobody's keeping score?

I use my serger once in a blue moon. What do you use your serger for?
I actually have a really nice serger😲. I use it once a year? Each time I do, I think “This is really nice, I should find projects to use it…”.
And then I start another quilt instead.
P.S. Got a great recommendation on Threads for a creator here on YT that has a whole new serger series - youtube.com/@ThoughtfulCreativity. Just in case you want to use your serger :)

A, B or...C? Yesterday the original fabric I picked (15 years ago) as the solid ‘ground’ for behind a design made of prints (A) didn’t seem right, plus it’s not quite quilting fabric. So I bopped out to a new store 🙂) and found what I thought was a great fabric (B) But today I’m not so sure. What’s your pick? Or should I just go out and try again-C?

What are your favorite features and why? What do you NEVER use?
I'm planning a video explaining all those bells and whistles on sewing machines, and why you might or might not need them. Today I'm just trying to organize all the features somehow coherently…meaning I’m rearranging notecards on my table and pulling out my hair…and wondering what things I may have forgotten.

Who makes GARMENT patterns with good instructions?
____
I haven't made garments in a long time, but am helping son make some dress pants this week. The directions are HORRID! Are there any manufacturers who make good instructions? I don't know that I'm heading back towards garment making, but I know son is interested and I want to send him in the right direction.

What comes first?
Do you start with the fabric or a pattern when you're deciding what to make for your next quilt?

Since I'm not a big paper piecer, I'm just really curious how people press while paper piecing.
If you don't iron - check out my video youtube.com/shorts/vG9HjRt0gdY and let me know if you think it's a good option for you. (It wasn't for me because I LOVE my steamy iron).
