📍 Mid-Atlantic Ocean – December 8, 2019
Captured on mobile during a critical moment two weeks into my 2,700-nautical-mile Atlantic crossing aboard Tangra. The sea was rough, the wind relentless, and I was battling to keep the boat stable while issuing commands to my crew.
Nothing about this shot was planned. It’s a raw, real moment of leadership and focus in open water — exactly the kind of reality that survival teaches you to face.

My fourth and final entry for the @NatGeoChannelBG - National Geographic Bulgaria Photo Contest 2025 is now live — this time in the Animals category.
📸 “Guardian of the Cloud Forest” was taken on April 3rd, 2017, during one of the number of conservation expeditions I took part in the Virunga Mountains, Rwanda. I encountered this majestic silverback from the Sabyinyo group, hidden in the ferns — calm, present, and aware.
It wasn’t just a photo. It was a moment of shared stillness — a quiet guardian watching over his family and his kingdom.

Captured on September 11th, 2012, during a 150 km horseback expedition through the Masai Mara, this image shows me standing beside Chief Olemurya of the Maasai tribe — not just as a visitor, but as a friend and fellow traveler.
