THE WILDLIFE FOCUS

I’m honoured to be featured in an exclusive interview by Africalix, written by Ali Osman.

This piece explores something I deeply believe in—how science, storytelling, and youth action can come together to protect biodiversity.

From early curiosity and fieldwork to global forums like COP28, this journey has always been about one thing: translating knowledge into impact.

Grateful for the opportunity to share this perspective, and for everyone who continues to support this work.

THE WILDLIFE FOCUS

Beneath the leaf litter of a Reserve, an ancient lineage comes alive after dark.

By daylight, this forest scorpion moves quietly through the ecosystem—largely unseen, often misunderstood.
Under ultraviolet light, it reveals a hidden glow. Not for display, but as a reminder that nature holds layers we rarely notice.

Scorpions are vital predators. They help regulate insect populations and signal a healthy, functioning forest. Fear has shaped our perception of them—but understanding changes everything.

When we learn to see nature differently, we begin to protect it differently.

🌙✨ What a fantastic night at the Citizen Science event with Entomological Society Victoria! A huge thank you to the City of Boroondara Council for supporting this initiative, and to Ben for sharing his incredible knowledge about insects and arachnids 🕷️🐛.

Honoured to represent Inaturalist here.

Citizen science events like these are so important—they allow us to explore the hidden wonders of our world while contributing valuable data to real research. The nocturnal insects we discovered tonight reminded us just how much life thrives in the night. 🌌🦗

Thank you for the award climate mobility a community action network
#repost

Over the coming weeks The Climate Mobility Community Action Network will be showcasing 15 amazing climate mobility leaders from across the globe.

They are part of the Climate Mobility Award program. A program meant to showcase the work of individuals who are making an impact in their communities on climate mobility.

We would like to introduce our second winner Erfan Firouzi

Born with the curiosity of Darwin and the storytelling grace of Attenborough, I, Erfan Firouzi, have dedicated my life to unveiling the delicate balance of Earth’s biodiversity. From my early days in Dubai, UAE, to my current studies at Monash University, Australia, I have pursued the path of science and advocacy with unwavering devotion. My journey has carried me to global stages, COP28, COP16, TEDx, among others, where I have spoken for those without a voice: our forests, oceans, and vanishing species. Recognized with international awards, my work has earned the acknowledgment of Sir David Attenborough, King Charles III, and Prince William, while my collaborations with Dr. Jane Goodall, WWF, IUCN, and Indigenous voices have deepened my commitment to truth and justice for nature. Climate mobility is not merely my study, it is my calling, for it is here that humanity’s story entwines with nature’s destiny.

In our next post you will learn more about Erfan Firouzi over video and their great work. #climate #climatechange #climatechangeawareness #climateactionnow #environment #gretathunberg #janegoodall

🌍✨ Exciting news, I’ve officially been selected as an iNaturalist Ambassador! 🦋📸

Citizen science is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect people with nature. Every photo, every observation, every shared moment in the wild contributes to a global database that helps scientists, conservationists, and communities protect biodiversity.

Being part of this movement means amplifying voices, empowering communities, and showing that everyone can be a scientist simply by noticing the living world around them. 🍃

I’m deeply honoured to continue this journey, turning curiosity into conservation, and storytelling into action. 💚

🌍✨ When I first introduced the REWILD Framework at TEDx, it was a vision of how humanity can restore balance with nature.

Now, expanded in my book The Year Earth Changed, REWILD has become a call to action.
This framework is about more than conservation — it’s about transforming how we live, think, and act for a sustainable future. 🌿🐾

Join me in rewilding the world — one step at a time.

🌞 What a magic spring day! Yesterday I joined @mp_koalas & @mees_monashuni for another superb planting day in Hastings. Together with 60 amazing volunteers, we got 900 plants in the ground 🌱💚

Huge thanks to everyone who made it happen — especially @wetlandandwildlifecreations for the super hole digging 👏

Grateful to be part of this community effort to restore habitat for our koalas and local wildlife 🐨🌿

🌊🐢 Unveiling the Plastic Menace 🌍✨

Did you know that up to 75% of green sea turtles in UAE waters have been found with plastic debris in their systems? 😔 From gut obstruction and buoyancy disorders to long-term ecosystem damage, plastic pollution poses a severe threat to marine life.

This study, published in ALL Bioscience, explores the impact of plastic ingestion on green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and highlights the urgent need for policy reform, conservation action, and public awareness. 💡🌱

Together, we can protect our oceans, our turtles, and our future. 💙

🌿 Today I had the privilege of joining a Sustainability Q&A Panel at Mannix College, Monash University, alongside some incredible voices in the field.

It was inspiring to see students come together to discuss how passion fuels sustainability, how we can rebuild our connection with nature, and the power of youth advocacy to drive real change.

Grateful to the Mannix College Environmental Advisory Committee and everyone who made this event possible — and yes, the native mint muffins were a perfect reminder of how sustainability starts right in our own gardens 🌱✨
