Happy National Best Friends Day ❤️

I don’t usually make posts for made-up days like this, but this year I felt like I should.

Life has a way of teaching you the importance of friendship, what it truly means and what it does NOT mean, teaching you to truly value the pure friendships that God has placed in your life and never taking them for granted. Over the years, I’ve had “friends” come and go, but one thing I’ve learned is that real friendships are NOT built on always agreeing and getting along. They’re built on grace, forgiveness, love, and choosing that friendship during the hard seasons, not just the good ones.

Cari and I have laughed together, cried together, argued with each other, prayed together, celebrated wins together, walked through heartbreak and divorce together, and managed to grow stronger through it all.

And one thing she does NOT do is play about me. 😂 She’s quick to pray for me, defend me, tell me the truth when I need to hear it, and remind me who I am when I forget. She’s been a safe place, a prayer partner, a sounding board, and will always tell me the truth, even when I don’t want to hear.

One thing people need to understand is that God never intended for us to do life alone. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” Scripture also reminds us that one can put a thousand to flight, but two can put ten thousand to flight. There is so much POWER in godly friendships, partnerships, and having people in your corner who help carry life’s burdens and celebrate its victories. Even when you say “I do” to the person that God has for you, you STILL need friendship. You STILL need community.

This year has reminded me to be grateful for the people God has placed in my life. I have many acquaintances, a lot of sisters and brothers in Christ (especially my B4C family), and I’m so thankful for everyone. But when it comes to earthly friendships, Cari has been one of God’s greatest gifts of friendship that I’ve been blessed with, and I don’t take that for granted.

Cari girl, thank you for your loyalty, your honesty, your prayers, your wisdom, and for sticking around through every season, even the really really tough ones.

Some of y’all keep shrinking yourselves just to make other people comfortable.
Watering down your standards.
Overexplaining your worth.
Making yourselves too available, too easy to access, too easy to replace.

No.

Never take yourself off the top shelf just because someone is too lazy, immature, inconsistent, or unhealed to reach for you.

And this goes for every kind of relationship….friendships, family, romantic relationships, work relationships… all of it.

Stop abandoning yourself just to keep connections alive that don’t even honor your value.

The right people will rise to meet you.
The wrong people will complain that you’re “too much” because they were never meant to handle what you carry.

Stop climbing down to prove your value.
Stop discounting what God made rare.

Make ‘em reach. 💅🏽
