Pushing the limits of performance shooting and documenting the journey along the way.
Brennan and Justin connected through Instagram in 2019, living across the country from each other. Over the years they had long discussions about all things shooting. In 2021, Brennan moved to Wisconsin and they were able to start training and shooting matches together. Social media content was an organic result of hanging out together, and in March of 2023, the idea to start a YouTube channel was born.
Our goal at Gateway Defense is to set the standard for what performance shooting can be. Both of us got into guns and shooting for defensive reasons: feeling the need to have the equipment and skills necessary to protect ourselves and our loved ones. As we progressed, we both eventually realized the best way to practice was with competitive shooting. We hope to document what we are doing to become better defenders, competitors, and shooters, and provide helpful insight into what we are learning.

WE NEED YOUR INPUT! Okay okay, I know it's been FOREVER since we uploaded a video for you guys. Thanks for being so patient with us. There have been a bunch of things happening behind the scenes here at Gateway. Two updates for you guys:
1) we are SUPER busy traveling the country teaching classes! If you haven't checked out our website, please do so. Chances are high that we are coming somewhere near you and the BEST way to support the channel is by coming to a class and bringing a friend! In fact, if you are a subscriber to the channel, I likely have a discount code for you to use towards training classes. Just send me an email: brennan@gateway-defense.com and mention the discount for YT subscribers!
2) Justin got a new job as a full time firearms instructor for a cool company here in the midwest! Make sure you're following him on IG to keep up: @justindshoots on IG. Here's the downside though: He's gonna be super busy with the new job that his involvement with the channel is going to take a backseat for a while. That means that Brennan (me!) will be taking over content on the channel. Here's what this means.
A. Production quality will go down a bit. I’m not the wizard at editing that Justin is, nor do I have as nice of a camera/gimbal etc.
B. Justin won’t be in videos for a while.
C. Our video style will change a bit. Fewer cinematic intros, worse color grading, you guys get the idea.
D. What WON’T change is content quality. Hopefully most of you are here for what we have to say and the training and gear content we put out. If that’s the case, awesome. Much more to follow.
Please vote on what kind of content you’d most like to see. If you have other ideas please mention that in the comments. Really wide open to hearing what you guys would like to see here.
