Hello and welcome to our channel. We’re the Broadhead family and four years ago we decided to give up our comfortable but stressful lives in the UK, to move to France and pursue a dream, of creating a small family farm. Back in the UK we were homesteaders on a small scale for 14 years, and now it's time to move forward with our plan to create a community family farm.

Each week we will show you all of the developments - we want to share ALL of the highs, the lows and especially the laugh out loud moments. Please do join us for this bumpy and exciting ride, here with us at our new life in France!

Beautiful over-wintered leeks are tasting sublime this year. We love them with the Jersey cream, garlic and mustard. How do you like to eat your leeks?

Spring lambing season has been underway for us on the farm for the last few weeks. Although our flock is small, yesterday we had our second set of twins of the year yesterday. Both girls are doing well so far 🐑

The Chateau Farm

We rarely get snow in our little part of southern France. Yet this morning we awoke to a surprise small covering - and by 10am it was gone!

In winter we see distant snow every day on top of the Pyrénées, but not close up. In fact, it’s only snowed twice since we have been here, 2021 & 2023.

These photos are not from this morning, they’re from one of our last significant snowfalls in 2021. I wonder if we will get anymore this year? It has been a cold winter so far ❄️

Some people say don’t get too attached to your animals, but by gosh we love these two ladies. Our Jersey cows are the backbone of our farm. Stella on the left is currently in milk and provides us 8-10 litres a day at the moment in winter. And Ambre on the right is the Matriarch of the farm and enjoying her retirement as Stella’s companion.

There’s so much we could say about what these ladies bring to the farm, but we will do that in future posts! We are grateful to have these beautiful creatures as part of our farm.

The Chateau Farm

Hello folks how are you all! Well I’m back on my feet after being hit with a severe virus that left me bedridden for almost two weeks! However, I have been back at it for the last few days and have a new YouTube vlog coming for you on Thursday so watch out for that!

I thought I would share a couple of pics from 15 years ago! We were building our publishing business in the UK, and putting everything we had back in to it. We had no money and no spare time really!

We lived in a rented farmhouse, so couldn’t have lots of growing space, but we still did what we could. This was our tiny green house at that property. But we still managed to grow some great fruit, veg and flowers! We had no idea back then that we would end up owning a farm in the south of France!
