You know that old saying, don't quit your day job? Well, in 2010 I did just that. I said goodbye to a 20-something year IT career and decided to get in touch with my creative side.

In the years since it's been an interesting ride to say the least. Lots of searching, experimenting, playing, learning, working, growing and many, many fall-flat-on-your-face failures. But you know what? Who cares about that. I think I finally figured out what I want to do. Create. Forget the expectations! Just create. Something. Anything.

Let's see what happens.

PS The bear's name is Brownie. I call him Brown Brown. He's not my bear.

This is the timeline from my Antigravity A1 "Scenic Cruise" video. It's nothing fancy but the point I want to make here is that you don't have to do a lot of editing because you're flying a 360 drone. The clip highlighted in yellow and the clip below it are from the A1. The top clip is 360 video, the bottom clip is flat, just showing the front perspective from the entire flight. The forward shots looked so good I didn't bother doing all sorts of re-framing in post. I just did a bit, shown by the key framing in the highlighted clip, to go along with my narration of the flight. I LOVE having the option of being able to re-frame but it's not always necessary.

One of my favourite new Final Cut features is beat detection. Select a music clip, hit Option-B and Final Cut marks all the beats. Hit Option-B again to turn it off. Such a huge time saver for me, I love it!

This is the Final Cut Pro timeline from my latest video. I stack the video from the DJI Goggles over the Neo 2 footage so I can use masks to show only the telemetry (and other) data from the Goggles. It can be a little tricky getting it to line up just right but it looks pretty cool in the end.

My latest video is a detailed look back on the gear I *actually* used in 2025, the gear I didn't use (or barely used) and some new additions. If you've been patiently waiting for my reviews of certain gear, well this video has some "mini" reviews you may appreciate.

I just wanted to take a moment and send out a big THANK YOU to everyone who visited and interacted with my channel this past year. All the views, subs, thumbs up (and down) and comments are what keep me going. I had planned on a couple more videos this month but I got sick a week before Christmas and am just now starting to feeling better. 2025 started out quite rough for me and honestly, by the end of the year the joke between my wife and I was that I just want to get out of 2025 alive. With any luck, I'll make it - haha! Again, THANK YOU for your support and here is to a healthy, happy and creative 2026! Cheers!

Ruby and I took advantage of the beautiful, warm day and took the DJI Neo 2 out for a mountain bike test. I have to say I was VERY impressed with how well it navigated the obstacles, difficult terrain and lighting. My biggest complaint? Battery life is way too short. More to come...

Who's in for the Neo 2? I always wait for it to be officially released and I pour through the documentation before making a decision however I am fairly certain I will be pulling the trigger on this one. Other than the crappy low-light performance, I have really enjoyed the Neo. Perfect take anywhere drone that you don't have to worry about.

I did a Insta360 Ace Pro 2 vs GoPro Hero 8 low-light showdown to see what 5 years of camera improvements looked like. The difference was STUNNING! Check it out here - youtube.com/shorts/1KZ5d_8dO6E. This picture shows the rig I used as well as how action camera have grown in size over the years, largely due to sensor size I imagine. While I do prefer the more compact size of the GoPro Hero 8, I would never give up the image quality of the Ace Pro 2 for a smaller body.
