π¨ Supreme Court Update | Regional Languages & Education βοΈ
The Supreme Court has directed Rajasthan to recognise and promote Rajasthani languages in school education.
The Court observed that regional languages are not merely a medium of communication β they form an essential part of Indiaβs cultural heritage and constitutional identity protected under Article 29 of the Constitution.
Notably, India currently recognises 22 official languages under the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
This development is being seen by many as a significant step towards future constitutional recognition of Rajasthani languages under the Eighth Schedule alongside other officially recognised Indian languages.
The judgment highlights the importance of preserving regional identity, culture, and mother tongues through education.
Language. Culture. Identity.
Do you think Rajasthani should also receive constitutional recognition under the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution?
