💔HEARTBREAKING💔A mother in Texas who is facing felony charges for allegedly keeping her 7-year-old daughter locked away in a dark closet with no access to food or a bathroom — due to her "always getting into stuff" and bladder issues — tried offering up her side of the story at a court hearing this week, insisting that she had "adequate food for everyone in the home" and was "never violent."

"I don't dispute that I was in the wrong," admitted Virginia Gonzales, 33, on Tuesday in the 331st Criminal District Court as the Travis County District Attorney's Office asked a judge to raise Gonzales' bond from $75,000 to $250,000 following a request in June.

"I know what I've done was wrong," Gonzales said, while appearing to hurl the blame at her other kids for the alleged mistreatment.

"I instructed them not to let her out of the [bed]room but not the closet," she told the court, per KXAN. "We'd catch her in the restroom doing something bad. It was easier for [my sons] to watch her that way."

Gonzales — who police say has another child that's been missing since 2017 — is charged with causing serious bodily injury to a child after her daughter was found soiled and severely malnourished after spending several weeks inside the closet. The girl, who weighed just 29 pounds, was reportedly found by her grandmother at the mother's residence in Austin.

Gonzales is accused of ordering the girl's six siblings to keep her locked inside the small space, which is approximately 3 feet by 1 foot, 10 inches, police said. The children range in age from 2 to 14; they allegedly told their grandmother that the girl was being punished by Gonzales for "getting into stuff" and eating things she was "not supposed to," according to police.

The victim's brother, who is 10, allegedly said the girl was only allowed to eat one corn dog a day and given a half-cup of water to drink. She defecated and urinated inside the closet, according to her siblings. APD Child Abuse Unit detective Ryan Constable described her condition Wednesday in court.

"The fat in her cheeks was nonexistent," he said. "Her body had used those stores to sustain itself."

Gonzales alleged during the hearing that she wanted to "fight" for her kids and prove that she deserved to have them in her life, according to KXAN. She claimed she "never spanked them" and did "nothing" to harm them physically.

"I'm ready to do whatever I need to keep my children," Gonzales said.

Austin cops have placed the children in protective custody as they continue to look for Gonzales' missing child, Ava Marie Gonzales, who disappeared in 2017 when she was 9 years old.

Cops say the child found in the closet suffered permanent brain damage and prolonged starvation as a result of the imprisonment, which was discovered in April. The closet where the girl was allegedly being held was barricaded.

"It is absolutely horrifying," said Judge Chantal Eldridge.

Gonzales is charged with three counts of injury to a child and one count of unlawful restraint. Prosecutors seeking the increased bond argued Gonzales was a flight risk and called witnesses to testify on that issue, including Gonzales' own mother, who said she would flee.

Valerie Gonzales, who had raised the defendant since she was 13, said Gonzales had a history of failing to appear in court.

"She didn't show up for a weed charge, you think she's going to show up for this?" Valerie Gonzales said. "I know my daughter, she'll run from this."

Eldridge ultimately agreed with prosecutors, increasing Gonzales' bond to $250,000. She was immediately arraigned, pleaded not guilty, and her trial was scheduled for January 2026.

Authorities have asked anyone with information related to the missing sibling, Ava, to contact the Austin Police Department.

However, the psychological trauma from the "brutality" they endured—which included being bound, starved, and forced into manual labor—remains a central part of their recovery journey.

▪️Chad’s Marriage: Chad (now 20) married Kamryn Anderson in October 2025. Shari has been very vocal in her support, even jokingly captioning photos with "She's Mrs. Franke now, pray for her."

▪️Shari’s Stance: Shari has publicly supported Kevin’s new marriage, appearing in wedding photos alongside the newlyweds. 🔺My Opinion 🔺

Let’s be clear: Kevin Franke is currently being paraded around like a resilient survivor. But in my opinion, he doesn’t deserve the "hero" edit. Kevin was an active participant in the exploitation of his children for years, profiting from a channel that turned their private struggles and punishments into content for millions.

More importantly, he failed in the most basic duty of a father: protection. Kevin moved out and remained separated from the family for over a year while Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt inflicted absolute brutality on the two youngest children, Russell and Eve.

They were bound, starved, and tortured while Kevin was—by his own admission—completely out of the loop. To me, that isn't just "being manipulated"; it is inexcusable neglect. Abandoning your children to a woman you knew was becoming increasingly extremist is an act of cowardice, not a mistake.

It is genuinely "gross" to see the narrative shift toward Kevin’s "grace and resilience." While I am relieved that the children are out of the clutches of Ruby and Jodi, the idea that their primary guardian is the man who wasn't there to hear their screams is a hard pill to swallow.

My only hope is for the children. I hope that despite the adults in their lives, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve find genuine healing. They deserve a life where they are no longer "content" and where they are truly safe—not just legally, but emotionally.

A mother who let her boyfriend beat her 6-year-old to death has been sentenced to two decades behind bars. The 33-year-old stood by and did nothing to stop her boyfriend beating and strangling her young daughter, who eventually lost her life because of the abuse.

Ashley Fagan, from Ohio, pleaded guilty to two counts each of permitting child abuse and endangering children, and one count of involuntary manslaughter and obstructing justice in the death of her daughter Eva Bretz. Fagan will now spend between 18 and 23 1/2 years behind bars.

Police responded to a 911 call at the family home on April 13, 2025, and as soon as they located 6-year-old Eva, they began trying to save her life. The little girl was later admitted to Nationwide Children's Hospital in a critical condition. Her catastrophic injuries included a severed liver, as well as ligature marks around her neck.
Tragically, Eva was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead around six hours after she was admitted to the hospital. Her death was later ruled a homicide after an autopsy was performed on the child.

However, according to a courtroom report from the Columbus Dispatch, Fagan initially tried to tell officers her daughter's injuries were a result of her getting a tree branch caught in her hoodie, which restricted her breathing.

Police soon discovered this was a lie, as surveillance video from the apartment complex proved Eva did not play outside that night. Detectives then recovered text messages between the mother and her boyfriend, Blake Hutchinson, from as early as October 2024, showing the pair attempting to get their stories straight about the little girl's horrific injuries.

"The one person on this planet that should have had her best interest at heart did not take any steps to protect her, and it could have been done so easily," Kevin Coles, Eva’s grandfather, said at the hearing.

Fagan’s attorney, Terry Sherman, told the court, "She's a human being who has made unforgivable choices.”

The case even became too heart-wrenching for the judge, who reportedly became emotionally upset when he imposed Fagan’s sentence.

Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard Brown said, "I cannot imagine taking a life or watching while someone else takes the life of a child, particularly your own child.”

According to the coroner's report, Eva was likely a victim of severe physical abuse for several weeks or even months before she succumbed to her injuries. According to test results, the young girl was also the victim of sexual assault before her death and was found to have fentanyl in her system.

The signs of ongoing abuse were clear. Police say that, along with her severed liver, Eva had been dealt blunt force trauma to her abdomen. She also had multiple fractures to her ribs and pelvis that were at different stages of healing, which is a telltale sign of sustained abuse, according to police.

Eva's injuries were the "proximate result of permitting the child to be abused, to be tortured, to be administered corporal punishment or other physical disciplinary measure, or to be physically restrained in a cruel manner or for a prolonged period," according to the indictment.

McClatchy News reported that Hutchinson, who is alleged to have beaten the child, killed himself just before authorities were going to place him under arrest.

Sophia Williams, a 43-year-old mother from Georgia, was sentenced to life on Tuesday without the possibility of parole after being convicted of malice murder, felony murder, child cruelty, and aggravated battery in August. She killed her 4-year-old son, Anthony Vice, in March 2022.


According to a press release from DeKalb County prosecutors, she admitted to ‘disciplining’ him for not being ‘potty trained.’ “She admitted to disciplining him by striking him with her hand, a house slipper, a purse strap, and a charging cord when he did not listen, or when he urinated and defecated outside of the toilet,” read the release.
On the fateful day in 2022, a 13-year-old child who was staying with them revealed that Williams ‘whooped’ Anthony because “he would not use the bathroom”.

She then claimed that the boy accidentally hit his head the week prior and added that she had nothing to do with any injuries he sustained on what proved to be the day of his death.

According to the 13-year-old boy, Anthony appeared to be ‘dizzy’ and fell to the floor after being assaulted by Williams. Moreover, the DA’s office said that she then placed her son on the bed and threw water on him. "He revived momentarily but became unresponsive again. His only movements throughout the night were reflexive, his arm jerking and his leg kicking,” added the DA’s office.

Williams immediately used her phone to search phrases such as ‘remedy for concussion’ and ‘coma – symptoms and causes’. Shortly after that, she fell asleep.
Williams woke up around 5 a.m. to Anthony making a ‘low grunting sound’ and soon realized that his body had become ‘completely limp.’

Prosecutors say Williams panicked after realizing that Anthony had stopped breathing. She then called his father and then 911.

“Williams told officers that she did not want to call for help because of the bruises on Anthony’s body,” said the DA’s office.

The release further stated that Anthony, who died from blunt force trauma to the head, would have survived had Williams asked for medical help ‘when she first observed the signs of head injury’.

“An autopsy showed that Anthony’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, and he would likely have survived if Williams had sought medical care when she first observed the signs of Anthony’s head injury.”

According to local ABC affiliate WSB, DeKalb County Assistant District Attorney Sarah Hillren was shocked by the severity of Williams’s assault on Anthony. She called her actions ‘heinous’ and ‘cruel.’

“Because the conduct alleged was so heinous, so cruel, it is the state’s position that she should not be permitted to live out any portion of her life in the community,” said Hillren.

There is no place for violence in a civilized society, especially when it affects a four-year-old child. Let’s hope Williams’ fate conveys this message loud and clear, paving the way for a world with a safe and caring environment for children.

🔴THIS IS HEARTBREAKING 💔A 2-year-old girl in Texas was found wandering alone in the woods on a game camera, leading to the arrests of her mother and grandmother.

The young child was spotted wandering alone in the woods around 3:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, through a property owner's game camera, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Deputies responded to the "deeply concerning call" around 6:00 a.m., when the homeowner observed footage showing the little girl "wearing only but a dress and no shoes."

"With temperatures in the 40s, this little girl faced potential life-threatening danger at that hour," the sheriff's office said. A search for the child immediately began. Meanwhile, a woman identified as Haley Peoples reported at 7:20 a.m. that her 2-year-old daughter had left their home earlier that morning.

The sheriff's office alleged that Peoples found the 2-year-old outside at 4:15 a.m. but did not contact law enforcement for several hours despite an active search.

Upon their arrival at the home, deputies allege that they found "unsafe living conditions — including trash, soiled clothing, rotting food, rat droppings, and a heavy odor of urine."

The 2-year-old was found "soiled," prompting an EMS worker to request a medical evaluation. Police said that Peoples declined care and refused to change the 2-year-old's clothing.
"Due to the hazardous conditions, refusal of medical care, and the severe risk posed to the child, deputies detained Peoples," the sheriff's office said.

The child's grandmother, Rebecca Kelly, returned to the scene but left after being asked to wait for a supervisor, according to police.

According to the press release, deputies learned shortly afterward that Kelly had gone to an elementary school and attempted to remove the child's three other siblings from class shortly before 9:00 a.m.
"School staff reported she claimed CPS was arriving and told the children not to talk about the early-morning incident, calling it a 'private family matter,' " police said. "This attempt to interfere with a child-safety investigation further endangered the siblings and obstructed lawful efforts to ensure their well-being."

Kelly was detained at the school while the four children — who are all under the age of eight — were transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
Peoples was arrested for allegedly Abandoning/Endangering a Child – Imminent Danger of Bodily Injury, and Kelly was arrested on suspicion of Interference with Investigation of Abuse/Neglect. Both were booked into the Bexar County Jail.

Peoples was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond, while Kelly was released from jail after posting a $7,500 bond, court records reviewed by PEOPLE show.

THIS CASE IS CRAZY😳 New details about the murder of Rebecca Park and the role her family members are suspected of playing in that crime are being revealed in a series of probable cause affidavits and criminal complaints filed in a Michigan court.

Those documents allege that Rebecca, 22, her sister Kimberly Park, 21, and her biological mother Cortney Bartholomew, 40, were all romantically involved with the same man — who was also the father of Rebecca's unborn child.

Kimberly and Cortney both told investigators with the Wexford County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) that they were in a relationship with Richard Falor, 43, according to their probable cause affidavits.

Those three individuals, along with Cortney's husband Bradly Bartholomew, have all been arrested and charged with felony offenses over the past two weeks.
Kimberly is charged with tampering with evidence, lying to a police officer and filing a false report. She is currently on house arrest after her bail was reduced from $750,000 to $5,000 last week.

She allegedly told a detective investigating Rebecca's murder that she was in a relationship with Falor on Nov. 24, the day before her sister's body was discovered in the Manistee National Forest.

The affidavit filed in her case stated that this admission came two days after Kimberly was contacted by a detective when she claimed to have information about Cortney and Bradly's alleged involvement in her sister's murder.

In an interview just hours after she made that claim, per the affidavit filed in her case, Kimberly told a detective that Rebecca had died from a seizure after being struck on the head by Cortney and Bradly, 47, who she alleged then called a friend who took her sister's body and dumped it in a swamp.

That allegation is what led prosecutors to file charges against Kimberly just a few days after she allegedly told police that she had provided false information to protect Falor, who she alleged was involved in the death of Rebecca.

The affidavit states that after being arrested and Mirandized following the discovery of her sister's body on Nov. 25, Kimberly told detectives that Falor had told her on Nov. 4 that "he killed Rebecca Park and that he wanted to protect Kimberly by not sharing details with her."

Furthermore, she alleged that Falor told her in a separate conversation that "something went wrong while trying to cut the baby out of Rebecca," which is why just a few hours after Kimberly was booked into custody, deputies then arrested Falor on an open murder charge.

Investigators ultimately found no evidence to substantiate Kimberly's claims, however, and Falor was arraigned on a drug charge and released from jail once Cortney and Bradly were charged with Rebecca's murder.

In her interview with investigators, Cortney claimed that she also had an affair with Falor.

Cortney said that after Rebecca and Falor broke up, she began dating her daughter's ex, according to the affidavit. She told investigators that she was preparing to leave her husband for Falor but ultimately had a change of heart at which time Falor reignited his relationship with Rebecca.

She also alleged in her interview with investigators that after they split, Falor came to her home "with the intention of shooting Bradly" and "raped her forcefully, causing her to have a miscarriage of the baby she was carrying," according to the affidavit.

Authorities wrote in the affidavits that they learned over the course of the investigation that Cortney had allegedly sent Rebecca a photo of an $18,000 check on the day she went missing and informed her it was an inheritance from her dead grandmother.

They also discovered text messages Cortney had sent claiming to have given birth to a son who was hospitalized due to an early delivery but would be returning home soon, per the affidavit.

She then allegedly wrote that the child had died just a few hours after Rebecca's murder.

Those texts and cell phone data which placed Cortney and Bradly in the area where Rebecca's body was discovered led to their arrests, according to investigators."Mr. Bartholomew brought Rebecca to their home, [he and Cortney] forced her into another vehicle and took her into the woods where they stabbed her, forced her to lie on the ground while they cut her baby out, and ultimately caused her death and the death of the baby. They then left Rebecca in the woods," Carey said in court.

She called it a "case of premeditated torture and murder," alleging that the Bartholomew's "created a plan" and "conducted research."

Both face one count each of first-degree murder, felony murder, torture, conspiracy to commit torture, assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth and conspiracy to commit assault on a pregnant individual causing miscarriage/stillbirth.

Each of those six charges carries a possible life sentence in prison.

They are also charged with one count each of unlawful imprisonment and removal of a dead body.

DISGUSTING & EVIL! A 31-year-old babysitter will spend time behind bars for providing her boyfriend with multiple kids with special needs for him to molest.

The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office announced that Brittney Lyon was sentenced on Aug. 14 to 100 years to life after previously pleading guilty to two felony counts of lewd act upon a child and two counts of forcible lewd act upon a child. She also confessed to allegations of kidnapping, residential burglary, and sexually assaulting multiple victims. Due to current elder parole laws, Lyon will be able to petition the court for parole when she’s 50.

A jury convicted Lyon’s co-defendant, Samuel Cabrera, in 2019, and he was sentenced in 2021 to eight life terms without parole.

According to prosecutors, in 2016, a 7-year-old girl informed her mom that she didn’t want to go anywhere with Lyon, "a family friend who sometimes babysat her." The mother reportedly learned about the abuse, leading to Cabrera’s arrest.

Following a short chase, authorities located a double-locked box in Cabrera’s vehicle with multiple hard drives containing "hundreds of videos depicting Lyon and Cabrera sexually abusing the children."

They were also reportedly seen "drugging or assaulting them" and "using extreme cruelty and brutality."

The district attorney’s office said that in addition to the videos of the young victims, Lyon had secretly recorded women and girls in changing rooms at clothing stores, as well as in bathrooms and locker rooms.

Investigators reportedly sought the public’s assistance in looking for unknown victims on the tapes and learned Lyon had advertised babysitting services online. Prosecutors said Lyon "specifically touted her interest in working with special needs children." Lyon reportedly procured at least four young girls for Cabrera. Two were 7 years old, and the others were 3. Authorities said two of the victims had autism and one was nonverbal.

According to the district attorney’s office, Lyon would bring the kids to Cabrera, and she sexually assaulted them with Cabrera and alone. Prosecutors said she would also get drugs and other items to abuse the victims.

In a statement, Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones said, "After the horrific sexual crimes Brittney Lyon committed against children, District Attorney Summer Stephan did her job in securing a just sentence of 100 years to life. Now, it’s time for the state to do its job and honor that sentence for the sake of the victims. Shamefully, a loophole in California law could allow Lyon to walk free after serving less than a third of her sentence."

🔴WHAT'S UP WITH UTAH & CHILD ABUSE?!! A Utah couple was arrested on suspicion of murder months after their 18-month-old daughter died from malnutrition and dehydration.

Mitchell and Carrie Murray, of Nibley, Utah, were both booked on suspicion of felony aggravated murder and felony aggravated child abuse. It is not immediately clear if they have been formally charged.



The arrests are in connection with the death of the couple's daughter, Ruby, who died in March, according to her obituary.



According to a probable cause affidavit cited by the outlets, Ruby was found dead in her crib, along with several sippy cups and waffles.



Carrie allegedly told investigators that they were "not table people" and that Ruby did not like people feeding her, so she ate them in her crib, per the reports.

Police reportedly reviewed baby monitor footage from the four days leading up to Ruby's death and found that she was only taken out of her crib for six total hours over that span and was with another person for less than an hour, per KUTV.

KSL reported that Carrie allegedly admitted to not checking the baby monitor in months, according to the affidavit.



When questioned about the baby's death, the affidavit reportedly alleged that Carrie said it "was her time."

🔴Trinity Poague was found guilty of five counts on Friday, Dec. 5, including two counts of felony murder, per a video of the sentencing shared by Court TV.

“I don’t do a lot of speaking when I’m passing the sentence,” Judge W. James Sizemore Jr. of the Southwestern Circuit Court of Georgia said in the video. “The bottom line is you're going to receive a sentence of life in prison, which is the appropriate sentence for the conduct that you have been convicted of.”

He went on to say that Poague would also be sentenced to serve 20 additional years concurrently.

Poague appeared stoic while receiving her sentencing, though she grew visibly emotional earlier in the day when hearing the jury’s verdict, per the Court TV video.

Trinity Poague is currently being tried on charges of malice murder, cruelty to children in the first degree, felony murder and aggravated battery. She has pleaded not guilty.

The charges were filed in connection with the death of toddler, Romeo Angeles, who also went by the name Jaxton, according to previous reports.

The GBI said the boy was found unresponsive on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University.



According to footage of Poague's trial, which began Tuesday, Dec. 2, and was aired by Court TV, prosecutors claimed that the former pageant queen resented the child because she wanted a child of her own with her boyfriend.

Prosecutors further alleged that Poague sent texts to her roommate, saying that she wanted to punch the child.



In an indictment previously claimed Poague’s alleged abuse caused “serious disfigurement to his liver,” while rendering the child's brain “useless."




Lilly Waterman, a student at Georgia Southwestern State, said at the time that she heard the toddler crying for a long time and that “everyone said that suddenly it just stopped."



According to Early County News, Poague was formerly named Miss Donalsonville but had her title stripped following her arrest.
