Hi everybody welcome to my channel, Mormonism with the Murph!
The goal of this channel is to explore the controversial aspects of the LDS Church's History, Doctrine, Truth Claims and policies!
I grew up in the Church, had a strong testimony that the church and gospel was true, served a mission etc. But at age 22 I lost my faith encountering some troubling parts of church history.
I had experiences that brought me back to the faith and the last couple of years I have gone back and forth between critics and apologists over many of these issues.
I aim to balanced, fair and to look at both sides of the argument and explore the faithful scholarship and apologetic answers or evidence on a given topics. I will be researching different topics and interviewing experts, historians and scholars to discuss many of these topics, primarily faithful scholars as well as some critics.
I am a believing and active member of the church.
My channel isn't affiliated or supported by the church.

I've got a really interesting upcoming episode with Kolby Reddish where we discuss our different views regarding Book of Mormon historicity. We shared 2 points each supporting our positions. I thought overall, it was a very respectful, thoughtful and balanced conversation and I really enjoyed it. We are hoping to complete a 2nd part soon as we both had another topic each to bring up. It will be released this Friday.
I hope this is a reminder that one can try to still be a peace-maker and build bridges as President Nelson and Oaks have counselled and have respectful dialogues. But you can still disagree and come to different conclusions. Remember we are to peace-makers, and you can share and defend the faith and be ready to give an answer and reason for the hope that is within you, in meekness and respect.
Defending the faith doesn't mean being a jerk for Jesus! 😉 If you are being a jerk I don't think Jesus would be very pleased anyway...
Remember what Jesus said 'By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples...if you personally attack, debunk and destroy your critics for my names sake, and the liberal prog mo's too...
Oops wrong translation
Actually he said this
'By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another'.

Make sure you check out my dinner date with Kolby haha, we had a really great conversation about peacemaking and respectful dialogue. I particularly discuss scripture passages supporting a more meek and peacemaking approach vs a combative and contentious one. We had a nice time!

Hi everyone, just letting you all know that last week I got in a car crash and fractured my breastbone. The car was a write off and I spent the whole day in A&E getting multiple ECG'S and X-rays. I have a couple of previously recorded episodes still to release but I probably won't be producing much content over the next month or so trying to recover from the accident.
Although at least the time off gives me time to read and study.
Thanks for all who support. If anyone would like to support financially you can through Paypal or Patreon. The money will help towards getting a new car :)

I had a really awesome part 2 conversation with Ganesh Cherian and also with his friend David Eaton. It was a long but enjoyable conversation where we talk about his book, building bridges between believers and unbelievers, different spectrums of belief and book of Mormon authorship and historicity.
In part 2 Ganesh was willing to answer listener questions and respond to some apologetic arguments in favour. We discuss the following: was his methodology parallelomania or only searching for things which support his theory?, ancient elements and forms in the Book of Mormon, ancient names and wordplays, Hebraisms, Chiasmus and repeating stories and narratives. I think this is a convo both believers and unbelievers in the book of Mormon might enjoy!
It's being released tomorrow 7:30pm UK time. Be there and make sure you like, comment, subscribe, share etc. Please to help the channel grow :)

Hey everyone, I will be bringing back Ganesh for a part 2 to discuss his book and more listener questions. If you have a question either on a topic or argument from his book 'Joseph Smith the Architect of Mormonism', let me know and I can include it. I hope to bring up more apologetic arguments in this part also than last time!

Hi everyone I have an upcoming interview with Ganesh Cherian on his new book 'Joseph Smith the architect of Mormonism' his book is trying to explain much of content, ideas and doctrine in the Book of Mormon all coming from Joseph's environment and Joseph being the author and it's a 19th century text.
Any questions you'd like to ask about his book or work in our interview?

Be sure to check out tomorrow's episode with scholar Kent Jackson on the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible and the Adam-Clarke commentary! Unfortunately during most of the interview Kents camera wouldn't work but the audio is still there and I enjoyed the interview
