Permission to Pause: Honoring Proper Rest by Slowing Down
This week, I’m giving you and me permission to pause. Rest isn’t lazy; it’s necessary. When we ignore rest, we start running on creative, emotional, and physical fumes. We are irritable, think more slowly, and begin showing up in pieces instead of whole.
Real rest creates the space we need to flow again to create, to be present. In a world that pushes the grind, slowing down is the real power move.
What does rest mean, and why don’t we need to earn it? We need to honor it.
What "Real Rest" Looks Like for Me:
• ✨ Sitting outside in nature with a cup of tea/wine, no phone, just stillness.
• 📵 Taking a full day off from the gym, even if it's just once a month.
• 💤 Napping in the middle of the day without guilt when my body needs it.
• 📖 Reading something purely for joy, not for work or self-improvement.
• 💬 Saying “no” without overexplaining when I’m already stretched.
You don’t need to do more to deserve rest. You need to honor your need for it.
What does real rest look like for you this week?
