Dear Friends, this is a gentle reminder today about the importance of running your own race.
Perfectionism and procrastination often pull you into the expectations and approval of other people. But this secretly takes you down a completely different path and may even pull you into someone else’s race.
Here are 5 simple ways to run your own race:
1) Know where you’re going and why you’re going there
2) Be aware of your limitations and obstacles: What things tend to trigger irrelevant detours? (Remember to exercise self-compassion around this one because it happens and you're human. What matters most is that you do the next one - #3).
3) Know what helps you get back into your lane and back in your race. Build alternative routes, workarounds and approaches that work for you when you come up against stumbling blocks that try and take you off course.
4) Get to know your strengths and advantages......and don’t be shy about using them!
5) Keep building those strengths like muscles you’ll need for the race ahead.
You do not need to run like everyone else to get where you’re meant to go. Don’t let hidden perfectionism or procrastination pull you off course.
You’ve got this.

Which perfectionism pattern shows up most for you? Overthinking, people-pleasing, overdelivering or harsh self-criticism?
...
I found greater clarity and purpose when I stopped mistaking other people’s approval for safety.
So much of perfectionism is really people-pleasing in disguise.
You try to be good enough, kind enough, useful enough and high-performing enough to secure approval and acceptance.
But safety built on being approved of, getting everything right and never disappointing anyone will never feel secure.
And when that’s the standard you’re living by, a constant inner pressure is never far behind......because you are human.
Because in reality, you get tired. You get things wrong. You get misunderstood and you will misunderstand others. You will drop the ball and mess it up sometimes.
Things began to change for me when I put less meaning and significance on other people’s approval and more emphasis on how I responded to myself when I wasn't approved of.

This mug caught my eye when I bought it because so many of us are used to asking a very different question:
"What’s the worst that will happen?"
It makes sense. Our minds are usually wired to scan for danger, prepare for disappointment and rehearse the outcome we fear most.
But one question I often ask my clients is:
"What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?"
And every time, it opens something up.
It interrupts fear and makes room for more honesty. More possibility. More room to hear what they actually want beneath the pressure, perfectionism and self-protection.
My morning quiet time helps me return to that kind of perspective too.
So maybe this is yours to reflect on today:
"What’s the best that could happen this week?"

Dear Friends,💚 Remember that surprise gift I mentioned in my birthday post? It’s here.
It’s a 7-minute Morning Reset made specifically to ground the perfectionist brain that secretly believes it needs to earn rest.
If you wake up and your mind immediately starts racing before your feet even hit the floor, then this is for you.
Listen to it now as you rise or save it for tomorrow morning - https://youtu.be/lheNFjpwdLw
On a scale of 1 to 10, how 'noisy' is your brain the second you open your eyes? (1 is total peace and tranquillity, 10 is flooded with what you need to get done to have a "successful" day.)

Dear Friends 💚, today is my 40th birthday 💚
And I recorded a message I wish I could have given my 25 year-old self....and honestly to anyone who feels like their peace depends on their productivity and performance.
This isn’t a “40 lessons” list. It’s one core truth that reframes why you’re always in motion… and why it's time to get out of it and step into a life that understands stillness is progress too.

My birthday wish? If the video helps you, please like it and send it to a friend who needs a deep breath today. 💚
I also have a surprise gift coming for you in a week to celebrate the core message of the video.
Question: What’s the one thing you keep doing that LOOKS productive or positive on the outside, but beneath the surface is actually anxiety, worry or fear?

Dear Friends 💚 Perfectionism doesn’t just make you stick to what you already know. It makes you feel like you have to be an expert at something before you’ve even started.
Instead of thinking: “Let me just try this,” Your brain jumps to: “How fast can I get to mastery?"
That mindset steals the whole point of learning. It skips the messy, playful part where the actual fun lives.
So, here is my challenge for you this year 💚
Choose something you’ve been putting off because you don’t feel “ready” yet or something that you'd love to do because it looks fun. Then, do it.....without trying to be the best at it.
No worrying about the results.
No pressure to be "amazing"
Just enjoy the experience of being a beginner. Be curious. Have fun. Maybe it's painting, skating, dancing, or trying a new recipe. Do it just because you like it. In recent years I've done pottery (and trust me I was far from great 😅) and this year I’m putting myself in the 'beginner seat' by learning how to be a barista!
What would you try for pure joy, if you didn't have to be perfect at it and mastery was taken out of the equation? 💚

Dear Friends 💚 in exactly a week I reach the milestone of 40. I didn't have it in me to celebrate in the cold and rain of the lovely UK 👀 so I've forced my family on holiday with me...(They love it really).
I'm dropping a video on my birthday about the key thing I learned in my 20s and 30s about perfectionism, it's something that holds so many of us back.
Tap the notification 🔔 so you don't miss it and tell me what advice would you give your younger self? 💚
